i have an old refrigerator that was left unplugged and it now stinks really bad. i need to clean it out and need to use it again soon. any suggestions i need something that is going to clean it and get rid of the smell and hopefully be able to use it again with out it causing anyone in my family to become ill

Clean it with a solution of white vinegar & water. That will help to remove all the stains in it easily and also sanitize and deoderize it.

Best of all, vinegar isn't toxic as bleach is.

You can use baking soda to remove the worst of the odors before actually washing it down.

toss a box of baking soda all over in there and close the door for a day. Then use the rinse to get that out and wash it down with vinegar!

Vinegar and water, or bleach and water both work well...I'd also suggest some baking soda to absorb the odor.

any commmercial cleaner and then put the box on baking soda in to collect the smells. used the bake soda for many years and works well.

first step is always remove and properly dispose of the dead body. Then you may follow any of the suggestions listed.

water/ bleach solution and leave open to air.
pay attention to door seal as holds much dirt.
