With all due respect I answer so many "Can I?" questions here. I notice you aske Can You?
The simple answer to almost ALL such questions is "CERTAINLY" Usually following that I add...BUT you may not be satisfied?
Your greatest issue beyond the fact that PRIMER may not at all be neccesary, but if you PRIME and notice air bubbling it seems logical to STOP.

Sure, but prime it first so the paint won't flake.

If... the edges are secure, & if.. you use a light coat of fast drying paint.
