If using canned paint, read the instructions on the can. Most say to hold the can about 12" from the object being painted and use sweeping motions across it. Go past the end of the object before releasing the button. Shake the container a few times during the process to assure constant color. Do not try to cover in one coat. Several light coats work better than one thick coat and this also reduces running paint.

And when you're done, turn the can upside down and spray until no paint comes out, just air. Only takes about three seconds but the nozzle will not be clogged nest time you use the can.
