I left a candle outside on our marble table the other night. Of course the next summer day the candle melted and now there is a visible stain where the wax puddle was. Any ideas?

I have tried crushed eggshell but this did not seem to work, I have also heard that even slug pellets with animal detterant is still very harmful to dogs.

I have an outlet upstairs in my house that has an open ground when tested. I tried putting in a GFI outlet, to try to fix the problem, however when I tried to trip the GFI with my tester, it wouldn't trip the GFI. The GFI is brand new and the tester works downstairs, I even tried replacing the GFI, but I still have an open ground and still can't trip the GFI. I also tried putting a ground wire to the metal box and the GFI should I remove this ?

I'm confining my dogs' potty area to one corner of the yard and I'd like to plant something hardy around the perimeter of the area. Everyone here seems to believe their urine is "acidic" but from what I understand, it's the ammonia content that provides too much nitrogen (causing what is basically a fertilizer burn in the grass, which is what turns grass yellow). So I'd like to know what plants, aside from chives (which repel animals and therefore wouldn't be a good border for the pups' potty), love a really nitrogen-rich environment.

My closet rod bracket sticks out too much & as a result, everytime I close the doors, they hit the hangers.

On my wall, underneath the shelf is a long piece of board going horizontally to support the shelf. Underneath this horizontal wood, in the center, there is a short piece of wood going vertically. The two pieces of wood are the same depth. On these 2 pieces of wood lie the bracket: To get a better idea of what I mean, please take a look at this site: http://www.johnsterling.com/shelfrodbrackets.htm and look at the 5th picture on the left for Model # 0043--that's the horizontal board; behind the part of the bracket that goes diagonally is the board that comes vertically.

I have heard that I could either bend my current bracket, remove the horizontal and vertical wood, or cut a hole in the woods to allow the bracket to go further back in. I don't know if a stud is there.

Carpenter suggests get a 9" deep bracket, but I only find10". See model 0042 adjustable at site given.

I'm starting a garden of plants with bright colors and cool shapes and I kind of got inspiration from reading about the garden at the Burrow as described in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. What's a really cool tree (and kind of spooky) with a gnarled up and twisted trunk that would add a unique twist to a garden?

My family and I might move in to the neighborhood right across the street and we might build a house on some land in the country. There are a couple of metal buildings right down a hill from the house site. ( Not a big hill or anything.) I was thinking about if we buy the land we could make one of the metal buildings liveable and turn it into a little apartment and I could live in it when I'm 16 or 17. (Right now I'm 13.) Do you think that would be a good idea? I do get scared easily at night. ( I'll grow out of that, and that rarely happens, only when I start thinking about scary movies.) What do you think would be the right age to move into the apartment and what should I put in it. The apartment would have a bedroom, a living room, possibly a kitchenette (all three of those would be like one big room kinda.) It would also have a bathroom. Thank you to anyone who answers in advance! One last thing, are there any do's and don'ts someone could offer up.

Is anyone having a locust problem this year? There were like 50-100 on my big window last night of my home. They make this awful sound and are really big. Do they bite? I live in the southern U.S. and these things are freaking my out! I hear them in trees every summer and see the shells on trees, but never like this. Help.

I think cords are unsightly! I wish electricity was wireless too, but since that's not an option yet what do you do to hide unsightly cords? Does your iron cord bother you? How do you store extension cords or things with cords? Does anyone use those cord clips, and if so do you like them?
