I bet it's the rabbits! if you want to be sure, play some country music at night, most animals detest it.

Squirrels eat tomatoes? I grow tomatoes, also and have several squirrels in the yard. They've never shown the slightest interest in any of fruits or vegetables, probably because they are more interested in the bird feeders, dried corn and nuts I put out for them and the birds.
So feeding them definitely will keep them from your tomatoes, and if you're interested on nature, it's worthwhile and they put on a good show. Some will even eat out of my hand, or come up to the window looking for me if they are out of nuts. If you feed peanuts, make sure they are unsalted and roasted, as raw peanuts block the absorption of essential nutrients for some reason (and technically peanuts are 'beans' not 'nuts').
Lowe's sells a block of corn and seed that hangs on a bungee cord that is entertaining.

Squirrels can bite, squirm, jump and burrow around almost anything you put over or on your tomatoes, they're that clever. That includes bird netting, barbershop hair, and most kinds of fencing.
However, they cannot stand loud country/western music. My father in law keeps all kinds of rodents out of his very large garden by playing an old junk radio at night.
You can also chain a dog out in the tomato patch.

Get some warm peppers, the spicier, the extra effective. placed them in a blender with some water and perhaps some spreader/sticky label (locate interior the gardening area, it is an additive you could upload to plant chemical compounds). technique. Spray the combination on the flowers. Squirrels are mammals and are not keen on warm peppers (as antagonistic to birds, which often savor warm peppers). THEN... supply them a extra effective decision -feed them yummy chook seed and/or squirrel food.

Get a dog. Everything leaves when the dog shows up because no one wants to deal with him. He will kill them. You would also be getting rid of cats and all those night creatures like possum, etc. Evern the birds will keep a distance. And the dog can also be your best friend, loyal and faithful. Good luck.

Nets? Or maybe nuts further off- I would think they are preferred by squirrles.

There is a sprinkle type item you can put out. Check out your local homedepot. I cannot remember the name but tell them you are looking for squirrel control :D
