yes, use thistle multi finish plaster, mix it to the consistency of whipped cream, apply 1 thin coat to the wall from bottom to top, give it 10 minutes, don't worry about getting it too flat, then apply a second coat, this is the trick as the second coat will not go off quick so giving you enough time to get it flat.
good luck...

There's no easy way, but if you want to have a go here's a few tips:

You will want a good plastering trowel, two buckets of water and an old paintbrush, something to mix the plaster with ( I use a paddle mixer in a cordless electric drill), and plenty of patience

Sheet the floor in the area in front of where you want to plaster, you'll probably make a mess.

Fill any deep holes with something like bonding
Paint the wall with PVA to seal it
Use Thistle multi-finish which will work on just about any surface
Mix the plaster to a smooth constituency more runny than thick, clean your mixing tools before you start.
Put it on the wall so it is relatively smooth and level - do not worry about trowel marks etc at this time.
Keep your towel clean!
Leave it until the plaster begins to harden and then trowel it out to a smooth finish, if necessary wet it down with water from the old paintbrush as you smooth it out. Fill any imperfections as you smooth it out.

Good luck!

I am (well I really mean the experts that i've hired) are in the middle of renovating my house and I have been watching the plasterer at work, this I have to admit must be the only job that only experts should tackle, especially if you want a nice smooth finish, bit like what I have got. You need to be pleased with the end result so that all you have to do is paint, then sit down and relax. Good luck with your DIY.

There is no easy way.

We once tried to plaster the interior of our own house and it was a total disaster ~ it's one of the skills that takes years of experience and not a project for a weekend handyman.

You can do it. It's a small job. Go to Home Depot and the people there can set you up with everything you need. Be careful when you start sanding. Don't breath the dust. Wear a mask. aabbcc

No. You would save yourself a lot of money by paying a skilled person to do this job.

You may want to save yourself money by doing it yourself, but after buying what you need and doing the job you may find it all falls down, which means you've saved nothing.

It is a job for a skilled hand.

There's no easy way. Go to your library and look at the DIY books. You'll have an idea what work is involved then (which is sure to put you off).
