I saw these in the bedroom about 12" from the walls. Only saw 3 in my room, there were no doubt alot more in the home. The owner did not know what they were used for. Any ideas?

These are threaded inserts- only 1/4 inch in diameter. they are not plugs. Too small for any wiring to pass through.

completely conjecture here, but based on old hardwood floored houses I have been in.

Their floors are usually kind of squeaky.

SO if you could tighten the boards up to prevent them from moving, like with brass inserts between the boards, you could cut down on the noise.

they could have been used for electrical outlets that were on the floor and there should have been a cover so you could wash the floor or kids couldn't get to the outlets. i work at an old church and that is what the inserts on the floor are used for.
