The "x" shaped thing at the bottom broke off, so I can't use a drain wrench, because there's nothing for it to grab.

I will return occasionally, so want to leave on water, gas and electric. What things can I do to prevent any damage? It's still my primary residence, do I need to let insurance company know that I'm not living there all the time?

My house is 2 years old, and the hardwood floors were installed by the builder when I bought the house. The hardwood floors are the "tongue and groove" planks, and have a bit of a shine to them, but are losing a bit of their original luster. I know there are floors that can't be waxed, and I was just wondering how I know for sure if mine can't or can? Lord knows I don't want to ruin them.....

TIA for your replies.

My laundry room floor is wet but there is no obvious leaks. I have checked the floor around my hot water heater and I have also checked the connection on the washing machine. The water is not noticible until you walk on the laundry room floor and then it seeps from underneath . I have also checked under the house and there is no signs of a leak there either.

Obviously it doesn't get to 0 degrees, so why doesn't it just say "off" or something like that?

We're laying a septic line and for some reason I can't get my second pipe to bond. It's 4" pvc so it's a bit heavy and hard to work with. I line it up to the fitting and my husband pushes it in while turning. Is there a better way? We're not pros but we're not novices either. We've done this many times with smaller pvc. Help!

My daughter took my wife's rubber socks, covered with stuff used to soften feet (that includes vaseline) and stuck them on the wall in several places. I'm afraid to use something on them for fear it will make the wall worse. How can we remove these stains?

Avonite and Corian are similar materials. Mine has lots of small scratches. Would like to polish them out, but don't know how. I know it can be done professionally, but it is quite expensive.

I also got paint on some clothes. Does anyone konw how to get it out?

I know I might be out of luck, but if you have any tips, i would really appreciate them!

Hey,

I recently moved to a house in which the lawn (purchased and installed as sheets of turf) is St. Augustine. It was perfect and green for a few weeks, but suddenly, it has developed yellow patches.

I live in Houston, and it has been one of the wettest summers on record. I've treated my lawn with Bug-B-Gone Max and Scotts Turf Fertilizer (Southern Lawns). We mow the lawn every 1-2 weeks to about 2 inches (it grows very quickly).

I suspect that fungus has something to do with this...

Can anyone please help me? If not, can you tell me someplace I can go to have the problem determined?

I was cutting this guy's lawn, and he had these white flowers that were along his fence. I asked him if could have some, and he said I could take them all if I wanted, he thought they were weeds. I guess there wild, because he certainly didn't put them there. I dug them out by the roots and put them in a couple places at my house, they are doing ok, but by next year i think they will great since there roots are big and I didn't cut them. They almost look like apple blossoms, there white and have a slight pink in them. They smell really sweet, and they are mostly 2 feet tall. They have bunches of flower on each branch, and they 5 petals. Any suggestions? What are these flowers?
ps. i don't want to waste another question, but have any of who ever grown fireweed, or had it? thanks.
