I am making my own centerpieces for my wedding, and what I want to do is submerge a live oriental or stargazer lily in a vase filled with water and have floating candles on top -- will it survive underwater during the reception or will it wilt and look bad?

I called the exterminator and he said that there aren't cockroaches in my apartment but that they're coming from my front door. I already spotted 3 medium sized ones within this month and they were near on my computer boxes, near my computer desk and CPU. It is very disgusting just to see them.

I poured boric acid near the door, but how do I prevent them from coming in?

I have two "patio" tomato plants in 14" pots growing beautifully on my deck. :) I have lots of fruit starting to grow on both plants but I've had some people tell me to trim off the branches that don't have fruit to allow nutrients to get destributed to the branches with fruit. My plants are pretty bushy....I've actually never seen tomato plants with so many branches but maybe it's because of the "patio" quality to them. I think they won't get much bigger than they are now at about 2 feet tall. I only add this bit of info to stress the fact that trimming would really affect the plant's appearance and may not only be one or two branches. Does anyone have any experiance with this or further info and if I trim, how do I go about doing it to be sure I don't damage the plants. I'm almost afraid to touch them, they are doing so beautifully. :) This is my first time growing tomatos and am really pleased with them so far! Thanks in advance for any info!

Yahoo sent me a 60 watt soft white flourescent light to as they put it " helping to make a better planet", I was also sent a book bag that is just right size for a few papers. That light is about as bright as the idea and that's pretty dim. The book bag isn't big enough to hold anything but the light bulb that arrived today. Anybody have any suggestions???????????

I saw a commercial where they were selling this grass seed. Each seed it coated in fertilizer. They even grew it on a cement block with no soil. Which brand was it??

Also, anybody know if it's good, it looks good! Anything better than that grass seed out there?

The previous owner of my home planted ornamental grass (not entirely sure what type) and I'd like to remove it. It was not maintained and is now over fence-height. Additionally, the blades of grass are sharp like blades and it has to be handled with gloves or you get paper-cut type cuts all over. It has a very deep root system and seems to have a root bulb about 3 foot wide underground and supplementary roots that are quite long. I can't burn it, since we live in a residential area and digging it up seems almost impossible. Any advice or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

The tree has had some rust looking leaves on it for the last couple years and we assumed it may be a lack of rain.

Turns out my new apartment is 95% on the same breaker so my 120V, 12.7A microwave can't draw enough current without affecting everything else. (also doesn't run properly in apt but works fine in my office). Wondering people's experience finding a lower current drawing oven. The lowest I've found has been 8.2 Amps.

And the house was built in 1922 but it looks very solid. Much more solid even than most new brick houses made today. Is this house probably outdated and I shouldn't mess with it or does the material last much longer?

I am growing what smells like mint on my garden, but it is not the common mint. It has large (half dollar sized leaves that are fuzzy). Any ideas as to what kind of mint it is?

I have a very weedy lawn area. I want to strim it, then spray glyphosate to kill these weeds, then I want to cultivate it, rake it, fertilise and lay turf on top. But how long do I need to leave the weeds after spraying? Like can I just spray them and dig them in straight away, and they will die? Or do I need to leave them a couple of weeks until their brown, before digging them in?

I was wondering if anyone knew about lucky bamboo. I just bought some and it has the roots on the bottom and 1 node where a small leaf is coming out on top. The problem is I want it to be shorter. If I cut it in half, will the bottom half grow a new node, and will the top half grow new roots...or will both just die? You can do that to many plants and since bamboo looks so simple I thought maybe..but I'd ask you guys first.

We have a Japanese Lace Maple tree, and its condition has been declining for some time. It has been watered, but we havent really fertilized it. The leaves have turned brown and drooped along with the branches. The lack of fertilizer I think may not be the problem? There is a condition too that leaves turn brown because of a chlorodic disfucntion. Right now, there isnt much telling whats wrong.
