Our attic fan stopped working. It could be something simple or it could be something worth the call of an electrician.

Is there anything simple I can check before calling in an electrician?

Is an electrician who you call or is there someone else?

Thanks

I have only floor air returns in my house which was built around 1950. There is a house fan which is why I assume there are no celing cold air returns. The house has trouble cooling and I am going to probably plug the house fan because during the summer its very hot to the touch and probably another source of the problem. Its a ranch with 3 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 dining room and 1 family room. Basement is finished always very cool. Probably more than 5 degrees cooler. House fans dont work in Michigan when its 95 out.

Long story short, before I moved in my back yard was a main littler box for my neighbor who has i think it was 14 cats. I have attempted planting grazz, soil is almost too acidic (cat pee and urine maybe...) I am fixing that problem. yesterday I found cat poop in my basil pot. A dead bird on the sidewalk in front of my place, I then raked my lawn/dirt and gathered a huge bag of poop. (done this multiple times) What can I do? Anyone know any legal ways of helping me nicley keep the cats away?
I know shooting water helps, but im usually not home from 8am - 7pm... PLEASE HELP

The blower runs fine, I can feel the air through the vents. But the outside unit's fan does not run at all. I have tried looking online for answers, one site said something about a reset button. I would like to fix the problem myself if possible.

I was just watching the news, they were in NYC talking about the power usage during this heat spell, and all of those huge signs were lighted in the background in the daytime. I expect one of those would take more power than a home. Does New Yorkers really need to see those everyday?

I am starting to get clover that is creeping over from my neighbor's yard (under my fence). I have become exasperated trying to keep it at bay. Do any of you know something that does a good job at getting rid of this stuff that won't damage my grass too much? Also, any tips on keeping it from coming under the fence?

Why is it when you buy a refrigerator the electrical chord is already on the unit and ready to plug in but on dishwashers or even clothes dryers they don't come with it and you have to wire it on the unit before installing it?

This summer, I am attempting (attempting being the key word) to save the number of dying/suffacating plants on my terrace. Mostly aloes (tropical climate). And some plants I've yet to identify (left by previous owner), which I will undoubtebly being coming to the internet to find out more about.

However, today's question involves the aloes. Many of them (okay, all) are big, beautiful aloes that are being suffacated by surrounding, smaller ones. I have managed to get a few out, which is already helping. However, how do I preserve the smaller aloe plants? I am planning on repotting them withing 1 or two days (possibly more depending on my schedule) but how do I preserve them for now? or do I have to repot them immediately?

Thank you.

The local parade goes past our house on Sunday. It goes past a treeless corner of our yard. I'd like to provide shade to anyone who's sitting there this weekend. But, I don't want to spend too much or for the setup to be too complicated.

What's a good solution to provide temporary shade?

Because the drain is under the drive way and it's possible that they will dig the drive way to fix the broken park. I think it may cost a lot. I wonder if this problem is generally covered by the insurance. I have the basic insurance.

....are coming out in droves.

These ants are not friendly and bite visciously and are very smart! I have put fire ant bait in their mounds but they close them up (making me think it worked) and then they move the mounds elsewhere and continue to get busy.

Anyone have a sure fire procedure for eliminating these pests permanently?

I have seen an add about a disposeable toilet brush. Throwing away the end that cleans the toliet bowl, storing the handle for further use. So therefore can the plastic handle hold germs?

My storm door was installed a few months ago and when you open the door it slams closed. There is no way to adjust the air pressure in the door pump. Please help me because hearing the door slam everytime someone walks in the house is very annoying.
