My boyfriend and I decided to paint the wood paneling in our basement. We started with a latex primer because we bought latex paint. In an unfortunate oversight (surprisingly not of my fault) the second gallon of primer we purchased was oil based. The error was not discovered until a wall and a half was done in the oil based primer. Now half of my basement is done in latex primer and the other half is oil based. Can we put latex primer over the oil based and still have decent and color consistant walls with out chipping?

I have began to grow broccoli in the garden, but have a few questions that need answering.

1) Is broccoli perennial or does it need replanting each year? what is the best way to do so?

2) Are the small yellow flowers edible? Do they have any nutritius value?

Any other tips would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It has huge 5 point leaves with small jagged pointy edges. the underside of the leaves seem to be like tiny tiny thorns and are anywhere from 6 inches to 2 feet in length. It has thick hairy like stalks. its green. It just bloomed these really big orange/yellow colored flowers, star shaped. The size of the entire plant is around 5 foot at widest point, about 2 foot tall. Theres two of them. A neighbor said they are either squash, zuchinni (sp) or cucumbers....Any other suggestions?

My husband just told me that he has used the toilet plunger to unclog the drains in the bathroom sink and bathtub. He did not disinfect either one after doing it (and since I didn't know about it, neither did I), but now his position is that it's fine if I disinfect the sink and tub afterwards. I think it's pretty gross either way. Who's right?

I have hummingbird feeders on my back porch and the mud dobbers keep filling up the holes in it. How can I stop this from happening? Any ideas beside just using a toothpick and scraping out the mud everyday?? Thanks!!

Would it cost more to leave an a/c running to maintain, let's say 72 degrees, than to let a room heat up during the day (it could reach 90) and then try to cool it down for sleeping?

Just pruchased a gorgeous, but rather large and UNframed oil painting...
Since it's 3' high and 4' wide, I am not inclined to have it framed at present--and know it needs to be stretched first anyway. (Also, I have a different painting that is stretched, but not framed and I really like the informal look of it in my home.)
This isn't something I'll likely be doing very often, so am I better off paying to have it stretched--and is that a costly service? Or is it simple enough to attempt on my own?
Your help is appreciated!

I bought an aspen white leather sofa a few weeks ago and have placed lovely scatter cushions from next on it. Unfortunately some of the cushions are light blue suede and have left little blue inky spots on the sofa, i took insurance out when i purchased the sofa but not sure if this will be part of the cover, does anybody have tips for general cleaning of a white sofa? People have suggested baby wipes but apparently you shouldnt use these on leather??

I have a row of 3 different tea roses(?), about 20-25 feet long. They were here when we bought the house over 17 years ago. I have never pruned/cut these. How far down can I cut these, when is the best time to do it.
