white leather sofa?

I bought an aspen white leather sofa a few weeks ago and have placed lovely scatter cushions from next on it. Unfortunately some of the cushions are light blue suede and have left little blue inky spots on the sofa, i took insurance out when i purchased the sofa but not sure if this will be part of the cover, does anybody have tips for general cleaning of a white sofa? People have suggested baby wipes but apparently you shouldnt use these on leather??

You have what is known as dye transfer. You need to use a specilist product specifically designed for that problem called Maxi Cleaner. This has proved very effective on this sort of problem. If it is not removed with this product it is then a technical problem which will need a technican.

Please do not use any of these other products sugested as they may ruin your suite.

Do Not use baby wipes they are the worst thing to use on leather as they will remove the finish over time (verified by manufacturers)

This is a common problem with cushions on pale leathers, if you use a good quality protector (not conditioner) it will also help inhibit this happening again and make cleaning easier next time.

Go to the shoe section in any store and buy something called Saddle Soap. It looks like a shoe polish but it lathers up and cleans the leather without drying it up...it actually puts moisture into it. Then wipe something called Mink Oil on it and u will keep it clean and soft with out spending money on expensive leather cleaners that don't work. All together these should cost you about 5 bucks.

I always use baby wipes on my leather sofa. The guy who delivered it told me about them and told me not to waste money on any special cleaning fluids.

If you prefer there are special leather cleaning solutions in supermarkets etc.

The insurance should pay out- its a disgrace if they don't ! This is an example of why we take insurance out!

Why buy a white leather sofa, you will always be on pins with it, it will always have some little mark on it, not worth the bother

Try using Nivea creme - the original cheap one on the blue tub (approx £2.50 from boots or tesco). Buff in and wipe off. Alternatively go to halfords and get some leather car seat cleaner. This is excellent for removing marks.

Baby wipes do work, otherwise you should have received some leather cleaning solution when you bought the sofa.?

You need to get a decent leather care cleaning kit. Try QVC website they sell wipes also, dont use baby wipes the ingredients will ruin the leather over time if you use them.

try hairspray - it should lift the color out but wipe it off after a minute with a damp cloth. If that won't do it then try to let a small amt of buttermilk dry on it. Apply it with a Q-tip, let dry then wipe off with damp cloth. If one of these work then condition your sofa. You may have to try professional cleaners with a good reputation.

well, i would never have another white sofa. i had one 20 years ago and my husband at the time, a waste disposal technician, came home all grimey and sat and spilled his beer on it, it was awful! after getting rid of him the "white elephant" was hopeless. but i tried some of that paint that covers vinyl and found it works on leather, too. painted it black and nobody knew the difference. finally sold it at a yard sale and made a pretty penny. try black vinyl paint that is my response. lol
