White on White looks nice.
My favorite combo is Swiss Coffee which is very white, used on trim and ceilings, and Navajo White walls which is a creamy beige color. Both are standard colors at Home Depot/Lowes.

I wouldn't use white, it's going to look too stark. Try a cream or eggshell color. I just started using bolder colors and recommend that you get a sample, paint part of the wall an live with it for a while before you go too big.

I used to run a painting business, one of the best off whites I used was called "sandstone" it was very popular.
