I have 2 pots/saucepans that I have left on the stove too long while boiling water. After rushing them outside a thin layer of carbon flakes off the bottom. and then I see the copper underneath... are these pots still usable? And if so is there anything I need to do before using them again? They are great RevereWare pots that have lasted 15 years or more. I really hope I haven't ruined them. but... if I have.... does anyone have any ideas of other uses they could have?

Do the Energy Smart Light Bulbs actually save you money, or is that just a gimick? Should I replace all the light blubs in my house with those? Also do things such as cell phone and mp3 player chargers always use electricity if plugged in? I have an mp3 player charger that has a green light on it that is always on if I have it plugged in, should I unplug it everytime I am not charging my mp3 player?

I have an ivory white robe that I have worned for a while. When it was new, it was really white Now it has a brownish color to it. I've only dry cleaned it with Dryel but that doesn't seem to get rid of the brown hue. Of course, I don't want to use bleach since that would ruin the silk altogether.

Someone put gas in my riding lawn mower where oil goes. I have taken the oil filter off but the oil will not drain out. It is a murray ohv/42 and not sure how old it is. Is there another way to drain the oil and should that fix it or is it broke for good?

We have bought a house (which is insulated), however, the garage is not. Some people have suggested insulating the garage, but don't really have any answers as to what the benefits would be.

I moved into a house that has a garden out front. I don't know much about gardening, but would love to learn. This part of the house receives lots of sunlight. The garden is beginning to look overgrown and I need to tend to it, but I don't know how to prune or what to prune and what to do with the "harvested" herbs. Help!

It increases in size every year, and dies down & disappears in the winter. It has large mid green leaves, and in June produces HUGE deep purple lilly like flowers, with a single stamen. These are spectacular to look at, but smell DISGUSTING, like rotting garbage. The flies are attracted to them. I've looked in all my books, to no avail. Anyone out these have any idea what it is. I live in S.E.England.

The reason I am asking is because I am being charged 55/hr for him to knock down a load bearing wall (8 ft span), and place a beam at the top (below the joists), there is no attic work involved. The total cost for this job is estimated $2,875 which he states I won't find a better price anywhere else. Is this true?
