Do the Energy Smart Light Bulbs actually save you money, or is that just a gimick? Should I replace all the light blubs in my house with those? Also do things such as cell phone and mp3 player chargers always use electricity if plugged in? I have an mp3 player charger that has a green light on it that is always on if I have it plugged in, should I unplug it everytime I am not charging my mp3 player?

CFL's (compact flourecent lights) use less power. The amount of light verses wattage is on each package. They also last much longer than the old bulbs. If your MP3 is charging, it is using power. If it is fully charged, the LED light is the only thing needing power and that is minimal.

Most things that are plugged in use electricity. Turn everything off in your house then go look at your electric meter. It will still be turning some. As for the light bulbs. The standard bulb used 60 watts. The equivalent florescent bulb take only 13 watts. It has also been found that it really doesn't use much energy to turn on florescent bulbs. Most of the electricity used in a standard bulb is released as heat.

watts on the appliances and on the light bulbs can show the difference. when u have a high watts on your lightbulb it will generate much mo electricty. i shot the lesser the watts the lower the electric generation the lesser the bill. celphone chargers has little board on it where electricity will flow, and will generate of course elecetricity, and about your charger yes it uses an electricity the LED needed electric current to light up, example u have a drycell battery and an LED try putting the LED at the battery and make it light up and after a while the battery will die because the LED already consume all the volt there.

Obviously the charger is using energy if it has a light on it that is always lit. Anything that has indicating lights, a digital display (like clock on microwave), of stored memory( like a stereo) uses energy when it is off. The energy saving bulbs do use less, but not much less. Consciously turning light off in the house would show better results.

if the green lite is on then your using electricity!! yes the energy lites work, however most of them produce less wattage or light so they aren't as bright as the others!! use the energy lites for general lighting but have lamps etc for specific lighting like for reading, sewing, etc
