I live in a house that is a rent house and my central heat and air unit is always running during the summer months and will not keep my house cool. I have contacted my landlord and he sends the HVAC tech. over to fix it and the problem still remains. I don't think the unit is big enough for the house. How do you calculate what the capacity should be on a unit? How would you go about getting the landlord off his buttocks to keep me from paying 300/month electric bills? I seriously looking at a way to sabotage the unit so he will "have" to replace it...because it older than dirt anyway!! Anyone ever had a similar situation or can provide some insight?

Thanks!!

A LOT ....

And I seem to add chlorine more regularly that in the past. A sales person at my pool supply store said that dog hair is a big factor in chlorine absorbtion - one dog is equal to 15 people swimming. My roommate doesn't believe me and refuses to contribute toward the additonal costs of pool chemicals.

Does anyone know where I can find some info on this topic?

Thanks.

As of two days ago, the air conditioner quit working. No sound, no fan, nothing. I reset the breaker on the electrical panel and it did no good. Then I found two additional breakers on the furnace fan. Circuit A and Circuit B. A was off and B was on. I turned both off reset the breaker on the electrical panel and then turned both back on on the furnace. It sounded like it was going to start but didnt until I turned the circuit A breaker off, reset Circuit B and it worked fine for about 6 or 7 hours. Then started again. Now you can not reset, it still sounds like its trying to start, but wont

Any ideas on what the problem could be? Breaker? Fan Motor? ???? HELP !!!

I have so many ant hills on both my front and back lawn that you can't even walk on it without getting them on you. When I mowed for the first time, I just bought the home, I was slicing off the tops of dozens of ant hills.

How do I A) get rid of the ants. I tried the cornmeal but it doesnt seem to be working.
B) How do I get the lawn to be flat again?
C) I have a puppy and a young son so I am concerned about chemicals.

The person with the best answer gets to come over to my place and prove themselves right! : )

We are trying to sell our house and need a nice hanging plant for the front porch. We are not the best gardeners and have already gone through two ferns in a few weeks. We tried watering more and keeping out of the direct sun, but the second one still died. We don't want anything flowering that will attract bees. Any thoughts? We are in Ohio and our house faces west, if that helps. Thanks!

I planted a lot of different colored impatien flowers in my garden this year and I've notice that after they bloom the color starts bleaching out of the blooms. It doesn't happen on all the plants or on all the blooms but it is more noticable on the the more vivid colors. I've grown these plants before and I've never seen them do this.

Anybody know what is causing this and if anything can be done?

I got a potted hydrangea last year and planted it in the back yard at the end of summer. It had grown back again this year and had nice green leaves. Alas, my doofus boyfriend thought it was a weed and cut it with the lawn mower! Will it grow back again next year - or is it doomed at this point?

All the local cats like to use my garden as their toilet and i cought my son putting it in his mouth once. It makes me so mad. Obviously i don't want to hurt them but i wondered if anyone knew any tactics to get them to bog off for good.

I can't do anything to the fencing as it is rented property.

My boyfriend and I live in a small apartment. It gets messy easily. Everything has a place, and eventually I can take care of it, but it just gets so tiring! He works a lot, yesterday 12 hours, and today had to be at work by 4 am. He is exhausted when he comes home, so I usually do the cleaning. Any simple advice or encouragement? Perhaps something I had not thought about? Most of the mess is papers he doesn't want to be thrown out, clothes that never end up in the laundry basket, and dishes that we are too exhausted to take to the sink after dinner.

Also, we do not have a vaccuum, and we have a lot of carpet. What to do? We have very little money... Thanks!

My cottage date sback to c1650, the walls are made of 18" thick stone. Some of the stones (both original and 25 yrs old) have started to crumble away, more so with the heavy rain hitting them. They are Yorkshire Stone which know is soft, but what quick fix is there available on the market to harden off and stabilise the remaining stone. It's been raining stair-rods and more damage will occur. Also the oak lintel above the window is rotten due to water penetration, any help with hardening that also.
HELPPPPPPP before the wall falls down!!! and all my underwear IS in public!

Can I build something over these like an access panel, that would stick out of the drywall 2 or 3 inches because that is where the pipes are now.
