unscrew the tub spout and replace it when you put it back use plumbers tape that you can get at your local hardware store.
make sure when you put it back on to use a cloth so you do not damage it

Depends on if you have a 3 handle set-up or a diverter on the tub spout. The tub spout type will either be screwed onto the pipe or have a set screw that holds the spout onto the pipe. If you look under the spout where it meets the wall and there is a slot, there is an allen set screw that holds it on. If no slot, it screws on. If it is a 3 handle deal, you need to remove the screw in the handle and remove the handle. Then you can remove the diverter valve.

if its a bath/shower combo you will have to replace the entire valve assembly if you have a access panel behind the shower wall you are OK if not than you will have to cut a square hole right behind the bathtub valves to gain access to that area
