Transfer the 3 wires one at a time from the new to the old light, don't connect any to the light that were not connected before. Only switch wire, neutral and earth are required. What's a router got to do with anything??!!

Firesparky- Thanks for the compliment! Yes - there are some wierd questions on here!

call in a sparkie, it is illegal for a nonprofessional to play with electric fittings and if a mistake is made the damn stuff bites.

I would look long and hard at your explanation it may be good text talk to say 4 meaning for but a little silly and confusing the issue when talking about wires when you are giving each one a number. Si Amigo?

Get an electrician . You will have a problem doing this yourself. It is now illegal for non qualified people to do electrical work, even in their own homes. I was in the electrical trade many years ago. I would probably be able to work out your wiring problem, but I would not be classed as qualified as so many changes have been made to the regulations since my days. Many stores and lighting departments have notices stating that fittings should be installed by a professional, the same way that gas equipment must be installed by a Corgi qualified fitter.PS The information given in previous answers is not correct. One refers to the USA, the other to obsolete UK colours. Current colours are brown, live.blue .neutral and green and yellow is earth.
