Like sensible man said not sure what you mean. I will take a guess and maybe you have tried to fix it and it still may leak so you are wondering maybe going bigger to make it stop?
If that is the case then you may want to look into grinding the seat part of your faucet if replacing the washer didn't work. Very common thing on an older faucets. You can pick a faucet grinder up at most hardware stores. Fairly easy feat to take on.

Not sure exactly what you mean. The parts need to be the correct size to work properly and not leak.
