Thanks a lot!

Buddhist (so is my daughter-in-law).

MOTHBALLS thrown into holes. Good deterrent but some burrow animals are so 'happy' with new area, they add additional 'rooms' and new holes and stay. Their always is two holes to each family (front & back doors).

LIVE TRAPS. Your city council or animal control should have. Normally their is a deposit for the trap which you would receive after trap returned.

DOWN OUT. Although many people think pouring water with garden hose into one hole until water comes out other or garden hose into both holes will kill or down them, killing them is rare. Constant water is a discouragement that this is area is not a good choice. They create 'branches' in their tunnel that are above the basic tunnel path which is used for their nest/bed, another one for their pantry and another one for their bathroom. The critters will scurry to these rooms which water don't go up and actually drown them although it does happen on occasion.

HOT SPICE. Cyanne pepper, or any hot powder tossed into both holes about every two days.

NOTE: Any truly working deterrent & they will dig out a new opening, usually close to bushes, etc.. to hide hole. Watch carefully for the new hole to treat.

GOOD LUCK.

The only way to get rid of them without killing them is to make them miserable. Try removing the mound of dirt so you can get to their hole ... stuff a water hose down it and turn it on ... do this as often as you can. Not only will it make your yard greener ... ;o) but it will make them feel very unappreciated!

If it doesn't work very well - try pouring your own urine mixed with water into their holes ... I know it sounds gross but they have a very sensitive nose.

Good luck and don't let anyone give you grief about your beliefs.

They sell what look like mini windmills/pinwheels and they make a vibration in the ground that keep them away. I'm not sure what they are called but they work. There is also this:

go to the home improvement store and look for an electronic device that uses a high pitch frequency. the sound will drive them crazy and they should leave.
