I love hanging out in the basement because it's so cool in the summer. I am thinking of finishing it and wondering that if I put up sheetrock, will it keep the cool air out (so to speak). I know that it will help keep it warm in the winter but I want it to retain it's natural cool in the summer. So basically, I want the best of both worlds. But I'm afraid sheet rocking and insulating it will block out the cool air that seems to come from the granite foundation that sits mostly underground. Anybody have any knowledge or experience with this? Thanks so much! =)

A couple of weeks ago there was a flood in my bedroom and my rug ( I have a bare floor except for the area rug) got wet, I took it outside to dry out but when I brought it back in it stunk REALLY bad. I put carpet freshener on it, I sprayed febreeze on it but it still smells. It it not an expensive rug but I like it and would prefer to not have to thow it away. Is there anything I can to to get rid of the smell?

All of my polyester shirts and pants have static cling, even after washing with fabric softener dryer sheets. Duofold shirts and hiking pants. But out on the trail where I'll be washing my clothes and drying them with hardly any soap and no softener, they will likely be horribly staticy. Is there anything I can do besides just getting them as dirty as possible?

I have a 4-ft.-tall chain link fence but I need a 6-footer. (Dog's part kangaroo). One length of the fence is anchored in a concrete 'curb'. Would I have to take out the old fence and all the posts completely or is there some way (preferably DIY) to raise the height of the existing one without it looking tacky? No ridicule, please, I have limited funds to work with and I don't want my dog getting out and getting hurt.

The cabinets in my kitchen look like this (click on harvest):

Currently, the walls are an off-white color with a slight red tint. I didn't pick it; it was just there when we moved in- as was the rest of the house!! Anyways, I'm looking for a country, rustic, or cottage feel. I don't want to paint it white, and I don't do wallpaper. Thanks! :)

I bought this stuff called JB KWIK made by JB WELD on the reccommendation of a friend. It comes in two tubes and you mix them together & put it on the area you want to patch up. The crack runs vertical along the entire housing for the pump and extends around to the top. The entire crack is about 16" long. The pressure is supposed to get up to 60 PSI. Is this stuff going to hold for the long haul or just be a quick fix and bust open in a few weeks??

If anyone has used this apoxy for similar usage please let me know the results. If anyone has had a problem like mine and used something else, I'd love to hear about that too.

There is dry rot and rot from moisture. There are materials that come with desease from the building material yard and rot on your house. If you dry out an area it dry rots. If you let air get to it and it stays wet it absorbs moisture and rots. Are there standards or rules to keep exposed wood safe from rot. I am not even going to bring up bugs, that is a whoe other story.

i have ants on my desk. ive just noticed them recently. i guess its because of some crumbs. but i cant find an ant trail. and im too terrified to clean the desk. ( i think i have some kind of insect phobia) so far ive tried corn flakes and baby powder. but i still see them around. i only kill them where i see them. because im too scared to look for them. is there a way i can kill them without looking for like a colony or something? i have a lot of papers and i dont know where theyr coming from.
and i really dont want to use raid or anything because i have a bad reaction to it.

I have a gas hob and have just cleaned it, however the steel caps (I don't know what they are called but they sit on top of the gas jets that allow the gas to come out in a circle) have gone very dark grey. I put them in the dishwasher as I thought they needed a good clean. Any idea how to get them back to the stainless steel look as the hob is also stainless steel?

alright...so im 13, almost 14.
my summer project this year is to redo/repaint my room.
right now, two of my walls are bright yellow and the other two are blue.
they're good colors but im really getting bored with it.
i would like a room with NO PASTELS!!
...im not really a big fan of pink.
i guess you could say im pretty mature for my age.
i want a room that i can feel relaxed in...but colorful enough that if i had a few friends over, we'd be able to party!!! =].
im kinda into 80's music, hiphop, alternative...if that gives you any ideas.
my room is farely small...and i have a twin sized bed.
my favorite colors are blue, orange, a redish pinkish color, yellow, purple, black....idk i like all colors lol.

im open to any answers!!!!!
