There is no one way to connect a pump and filter. There are hundreds of pumps and hundreds of filters. If you are unclear about how to install yours, I would contact a residential swimming pool company and have them install it. Although it may cost a few hundred dollars, installing the pump incorrectly will certainly damage it and probably void its warranty.

Not really, but it's pretty simple.

What type of pool and filtration system do you have? If you are using hard line (PVC piping) then you will need to know how to glue PVC. If you are using soft line (corrugated hose) then it's as simple as putting the hoses on the filter and hooking them up to the pool.

Either way, with the type of filter and type of pool you can get a much better answer.
