My first thought when I read the Q was exactly what answer number one suggests.

A FIXER party. Just the communal efforts will be what you may eventually want anyway, and trappings for a party are subjective and relative.

Chairs are easy, even if everyone has to bring their own, Have Music, offer buffet style food and drinks, create the finish while the party is happening.

I'm not at all sure what Bubble Wrap might add. Most might be tired of popping in 30 seconds or less, and unless you plan a bubble wrap garment fashion show as part of the party, I think you might leave it for packing, afterward, :)

bubble wrap?? dunno about that but you could have a decorating party theyre fun! i wouldnt worry too much you could fill the room with helium balloons!!!
