I was wondering how much it would cost to build a deck off the side of my house, about 500 square feet on a hillish slope-- nothing severe but there is a slope. I ask how much it would cost with pressure treated wood because I have been under the impression that's the most economical material.

Thanks in advance!

We have a brickwalkway that we have dug flower beds on both sides of and I am wanting to plant some colorful flowers in the beds. I have already planted the mondo grass on the outside edge of the flower beds and thats looking pretty good, but I really need to find some flowers that are inexpensive and preferably colorful and fairly short that will be able to take the full sun. I bought marigolds but they have wilted. any suggestions???

i have a 40 gallon electrical water heater tank at my business. should i turn it on only during business hours (10am-7pm) to save energy?

i thought heat loss from the tank always occurs unless there is something else that i am not aware of.

The saw that I have used to floor the whole house, build a bed, make two wall-sized book-cases, fit work-tops...amongst other things, is now starting to get a little blunt! It's a nice saw! Should I sharpen it or just get a new one?

Uggggggghhhhhhh, my roses keep getting blackspot or some kind of fungus. Is there anything I can do to cure them that is more natural. I have kids and am breastfeeding a 5 week old, so really don't want us exposed to harsh chemicals. Also, how often should I treat them, and with how strong a solution? Do I need to cut them back to the ground? THANKS!

So far, every screw has gone soft the second before I had it in all the way. It is useless at this point and I have no choice but to take it out and start over with a fresh one.

I am using the correct power tools and drilling prior to screwing. The first screws were from Wal-Mart; they are in the trash now. All the ones thereafter, I picked up in Home Depot. They are better, but still too soft.

Is there something I should be looking for when selecting a screw to insure the head won’t thread?

My last screw was:
Wood
Tornillo Madera
#10 x 2”
Flat Head Phillip
Zinc
Crown Bolt Inc.

This isn't a question, it just relates to question asked by someone else about thier dog eating dandelions. From "the joy of cooking": A very tart green with jagged-edged leaves that look like arrows. Young, tender leaves less than 6 inches long are the least tart and are ideal in salads. Both raw and cooked, dandelion greens have a rich, braing flavor and are worth buying when they appear in the market." Doesn't say anything about the flower portion.

This has been increasing over the last month. We have a new home, only 15 months old. Now, the kitchen faucets starts spitting water out and then goes constant. It is obvious that air is in the system, but how do I get it out, and where is it coming from. The problems seems to be getting worse.

I am clueless when it comes to taking care of flowers and plants. I have a small balcony and wish to make it nice for the spring/summer season. I would like to put some plants and flowers on my balcony. I am not a big fan of plants, especially ferns. I hate ferns. I would like something low maintenance both plant wise and flower wise. I have a small table/wood bench out there now where I would like to get nice pots to put them in. Also some tips on how to care for them would be helpful as well.
Thank you for your help. . .I am a clueless gardener :(
