I have a fairly small room, and the little space I have that isn't taken up by a bunk bed, a desk, two bookshelves, and a dresser is really messy. How do I organize the floor, my dresser, my bookshelves, and my desk?

That's just it: I'm a complete pack rat. I go to throw stuff away, but then I remember what I used if for ONCE and I keep it.

First of all you need to change how you keep things. You shouldn't have to organize the floor. What I do (because I have a tendency to do the same thing you do) is get a rubbermaid container or a box and tell myself that's all I can keep, and put it in a corner someplace. You can get boxes to slide under your bed that will hold stuff, too. You should sort the clothes you have in your dresser, socks in one place, underwear in another, etc. Then fold things before you put them back. If you do this whenever you put them away, it won't get so messy. For your bookshelves, get some bookends and if you have a lot of books, you can sort them by subject and then by size (or if you don't want to go that far, just by size). You can keep little things you like on your shelves, too. Your desk needs to be organized so you can use it so that means you can't junk up the top of it. You didn't say how many drawers your desk has but I'll assume two. One for pencils, etc and the other for papers. If you have any extra drawer anywhere -- everybody needs junk drawer.
There are a lot of things available that can be used to help you organize your room. There are little plastic boxes where you can keep your hair stuff, and things like that, so maybe mom should take you shopping.

Clean it as though you were going to invite most of your friends from school to visit it. If it looks like a pigsty from that point of view then there is your motivation to cleanup. That also includes clearing the floor so that they can fit in the room.
Look over the messy stuff. If you haven't used it or worn it in the past year it doesn't belong there. If it is from another season box it and throw it in the garage or attic. If it is something that is for this season but you will never wear it is a candidate for give away or trash.
Keep only the clothes you are likely to wear this summer in your dresser.
Get more bookshelves (taller ones maybe) if you don't have enough book space.
Get plastic boxes and put the extra things into your closet in specific boxes not a heap.
Once you get into that killer-cleanup mode you can be merciless in cleaning the room. And once it looks better you will be less likely to get it into bad shape again.

well first i would get rid of the bunk bed. then go through your stuff and throw away everything that you havn't used or worn more than once in the past year. next you should make a permanent home for everything (use labels if you need to). organize your desk by putting all of one item in the same spot. put things that you use more often on top and all other things out of sight. on the bookshelves put all books, photos, keepsakes, etc. arrange them in a way that looks pleasing to you, and when you take something out, make sure that you put it back. do you have a closet? if so than you should only put pj's, underwear, and gym type clothes in your dresser, everything else should be hanging. i hang my clothes by type. pants/bottoms on one side of the closet and tops on the other, and i keep things that i wear often in the middle and all other things (jackets, lingerie, etc.) furthest from the middle. good luck and happy organizing.

R you really serious?!?!! You have to work on ur pack rat issues. No one can help you with that. You need to get rid of some of the things you don't use. If you have not used them in 6 months or a year. Pitch it, or if it can still be used, give it to charity, have a garage sale or something.

Find out first if you have enough room for all of your things. If not you may have to store the excess or get rid of it. I would suggest that everything has a place so clean up is fairly simple in the future.

i use to have the same problems. but you need to realize you have to get rid of stuff.
When going through your stuff you need to think how long has it been since i seen this. and if you haven't seen it in like 6 months ... throw it away. if you have only used it once in 3months... get rid of it.
YOU DO NOT NEED IT
A good thing i invested was in shelves. it lifted all my crap off the tops of things leaving me more space and feeling less cramped.
Remember: if you haven't seen it... you don't need it.
goodluck

Try to find a place for everything and don't move on to one task before finishing another. Usually, I stack things like homework and schoolbooks based the class that it is for. Also, tro to think quickly about the things that you need and those that you don't so that you're not holding on to things you don't need.

certainly do not sparkling it up for them... in the event that they like to stay in a large number.. do not pass there... some are neat constantly.. some study late... i replaced into messy in different rooms yet I constantly saved my very own room sparkling.. i did not choose my mom to pass in there to bathe it yet I threw my grimy washing in the tub..i might say one learns with time... in the event that they get somewhat older have a BF they choose to impression or a GF they won't be so messy.. they're going to make the attempt a minimum of to maintain it neat.. because of the fact a messy room supplies the impact of a chaotic character.. yet for youthful childrens.. it in basic terms takes time.. according to possibility they like the jungle environment .. and it keeps the mum and dad away they suspect if their room is in basic terms too surprising to look at ...and resembles a conflict zone... it is going to alter in a 365 days or 2..for women folk they choose their rooms to look neat in the event that they become interested in style...and cosmetics.. with boys.. they're going to study whilst they have their first stable female pal because of the fact she would manage to tell him his room is a large number and he greater ideal sparkling it up...he will accomplish that.. at last... x

Take an afternoon to go through your stuff and determine what you do without. That will reduce the problem considerably.
