We have a low spot in our backyard that turns into a small pond when it rains. Aside from filling in this area, Is there a plant that sucks up a lot of water but doesn't harm underground pipes?

If you can, what depth of topsoil/soil do you need and are there any other considerations we need to take into account?

Thanks for your help!

My shower always smells like mildew but I can't find the source. I have cleaned it with all different cleaners, none seem to work. I think it is coming from the drain. How do I get rid of it? Also, I have a door on my shower, how can I get the mildew off the shower door? No matter how hard I try, it never looks clean.

A few nights ago, I popped some corn, and left a little of it on a kitchen counter. The next day, I noticed several kernels on the bathroom floor. I asked my husband if he was eating popcorn in the bathroom. He said no.

My conclusion was that maybe we have a mouse, who took some in there. I have never seen any mouse droppings anywhere, or anything. No evidence of mice, except popcorn in the bathroom. I bought some mouse poison when we went into town that day.

Later noticed that the kernels are all gone. Husband claims to know nothing about this. I didn't pick them up.

What do you think is going on?

We're relocating a few states away without a moving company. Please tell me the thing you're most grateful for knowing (or what you wish you knew) when you moved.

It sounds more like a oppossum or something that big, but can't find a place for it to get in or out. It is a mobile home that is well enclosed. I have checked for dug out spots and they aren't any.

I have been looking into "small houses" like 500 to 700 s.f. I know about the small house society, but ide like to find pictures and floor plans that might give me more of an idea. I like the concept of small houses, and would like to build one and live in it and see if I really can do this. Any ideas or thoughts on the subject would be news for me, thank you in advance.

Is it alright that I just dump all outside my house to save time (I know the needy will pick them up anyway) or must I make a trip down to Salvation Army to donate?

I have a couple of wild rhubarb plants growing in my backyard and am really excited about getting to use the end product, but I need to know if there is anything I need to do for these plants during the season..
Do I need to cut them back ever? When is the right time to harvest stalks?
...any info you can give to a novice here would be appreciated!

cheers!

This hummingbird has a black head and a white stripe around his throat. I call him Bully because when the other hummers come to the feeder he literally flies into them and bonks them. He ran off this really pretty hummer with a red throat that I liked alot too. He seems to think this is HIS feeder. Is this normal behavior? I would like to see the other birds too. Is "Bully" just a psycho hummingbird or are they naturally territorial?

Should I hang other feeders? Would that help?

I want to modify cabinets and countertop to accept a built-in convection wall oven. Someone mentioned the use of a "bottom-cut" saw to cut out the opening in the countertop.
