My home has been refurbished since Katrina left her stripes and sunken soils. However I realize now that the "re"setting of the concrete block foundation was an important process that was overlooked in the refurbishing phase to my home. The blocks (2 high) now look as though they want to calaspe on one side of the house. I inquired into the cost of leveling and setting additional blocks to support the house which is a small stucco 650 sq ft home and found that the price was way out of range. Now I am considering simply setting additional blocks close to the pre-existing blocks without the "leveling" process. I think this is someting that can be done by less than the usual experts and at minimal cost. The house seems level enough at this time. I need some opinions and suggestions from those of you who know. Is it wise to place reinforcement blocks close to the exisitng blocks for a fix or do I need to have the entire house leveled and reinforced? Thanks for your input.

I have several pieces of white resin patio furniture that are heavily stained and I am wondering whether I might be able to paint them to make them look better. If I can do this, what kind of paint should I use?

My girlfriend and i just moved into a completely renovated condo complex that used to be apartments. We bought all new dressings for the bathroom and now our brand new towels are being bleached. The began having bleach spots before we even put them through the first wash cycle!

Then we noticed our clothes also coming out of the washer with bleach stains and we do not use bleach. We thought it might be the fabric softener but elimination of that hasn't worked. Is it a problem with our water system? Or is it a hair product we might use?

We've tried eliminating hair products, but have seen no response. We believe it has to do with our water. Does anyone out there have this problem as well? Please help we are going insane! And we can't use anymore of our new towels until this is resolved.

thank you!

I own a cape cod style home. Our basement stairs are not code, riser 8.75 inches high and tread is 10 inch and it would be impossible to make them code given the current distance of the rise and run. We ended up replacing them with a custom staircase. We don't have enough room to make the staircase longer it would hit the wall. Could a home inspector make us replace them if they are not code? When we go to sell?

I want to grow herbs and vegetables in my backyard, and am sick of paying for plastic containers which are inconveniently shaped. I intend to look around for things that can be converted for my needs. I know that treated wood is bad because of the chemicals used in the treatment. What else is bad? I read about people using old tires -- is this toxic? Also, some plastics often have stuff leaking into water, such as those popular Nalgene bottles that leak estrogen-imitating chemicals that are bad for humans -- would this mean that plastic is bad for growing plants intended for consumption?

To get rid off mole, where do you buy and place the trap. If I add rat poison with peanut butter, would it work? Even though, the food source claimed to be grub, I do not see grub problems, my loan does not show it and nor do I see Japanese beetles eating my dogwood trees. This is a nuisance that I can't stand. My whole neighborhood is complainng about this creature. Appreciate anyone sharing based on their personal experience on how to get rid off or kill this nuisance creature.

A cure that I came across indicates that I need to put a mirror on the outside of the bathroom door. However it would face a staircase going down. At the bottom of the staircase is a closet (closed) Would it still be okay to have the mirror in this position? Feng Shui knowledgable people only please.

if I build a flat bed trailer to haul 2 riding lawn mowers and a few other things (8x16 deck would be ideal) then what should I look at or onto for the axle? or should I think differently on the whole 8x16 thing. I have started trying to draw a scale model. but I am stuck as far as the axle dimensions. p.s. I am trying not to spend a million bucks here, there is a reason I am building it my self..... Thank you for any help you can give me...
