I still live w/my parents, and they are SO messy!?

2006-09-03 18:36:33 · 6 answers · asked by Stacie 2 in Cleaning & Laundry

I am trying so hard to maintain a 'clean' house, and my idea of clean is 'tidy but still messy'. So when I say that it is filthy at the moment - it really is!My 2 year old pulls everything out. My 4 and 7 year old fight about putting things away because 'they didn't make the mess!'Ive tried reward charts, chore charts, setting a timer and sure - they all work for a small amount of time - but in the end the kids still foul up the place- they don't even think of putting a cup in the sink or an empty wrapper in the bin. I know they are children (and I dont expect the 2 year old to) but the others should.
Added to this I have the stress of a mentally ill H, who doesn't do anything around the house - inside or out. He wants to, but then gets distracted or falls to sleep etc. And at the moment we're walking on eggshells, so I can't harp too much.
I wish I could afford a cleaner - but then I'd have to clean before I let them come!
I know I need routine, but its just so hard when I work etc

I would be very interested in providing a good home for your Hostas, Black-eyed Susans, Cannas, etc. At 56 have worked too hard and have not spent enough time 'smelling the roses". About 3 years ago I had reason to slow down and was "bitten" by the gardening bug and have developed a deep passion for it. . I am on a mission to populate my new garden with beautiful plants and flowers without going broke and before a progressive and ultimately disabling neurological illlness makes it difficult if not impossible.

I have just installed a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan with light kit and remote control (all came with the fan) and when I press the High setting on the remote, the blades move as though they are on Low. What could be the problem?

The bench was painted with dark brown paint. The paint flaked off from the yellow cedar, but stuck to the pine. Now I removed the paint from the visible parts as good as I could. On the the underside and the back I will leave the old paint. Which product will adhere well to the yellow cedar and the pine? I would prefer a darker color because for the legs and support- 2x4s scrap wood has been used which is of different shades.I want to be sure that no cloths will be stained when sitting on the bench.

I want to redo my bathroom in a medieval style. I have found some great acessories but I am stuck on a shower curtain....I have searched and searched but nothing looks just right. Does anyone know where I could get a shower curtain that looks like it would fit into that "style" I could even bend a little towards Celtic....thanks

I have just purchased a copper fire pit on a wrought iron stand. I am wanting to not only use it for a camp fire but to roast hot dogs and marshmallows on. I know the fire logs that can purchased are convenient but can't be cooked with because of how they are treated. I am a single mom new to this fire starting thing. Can someone please tell me how to get a good fire started in a fire pit and keep the flame going?

Thanks!
