A Yahoo search for "growing tulips" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 13,900 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.

Tulip planting is simple. Do it before the ground freezes hard. If you time right you can get several plantings in. Do one around September, then one in October provided the ground is not hard. This way you will extend the bloom period over several weeks or maybe months. Here in Pennsylvania you can plant up till almost Thanksgiving. This will give you flowers well into June some time. Snow is an insulator so don't worry about the snow. It is just the really cold cold once they sprout you will have to worry about them freezing off the new tips. At that time I would have some straw or leaves handy to put over them. Happy planting.

September is the time to plant tulip bulbs for next spring blooming. The bulbs need to be planted now to give them enough time to develop a good root system, before the ground freezes solid.
