We are building a 12' x 24' deck that is on a slight hill. The end near the house (this is a detached, free-standing deck) will be about a foot off the ground. The other end of the deck will be about 3 feet off the ground.

I was thinking about putting river rock under the entire deck (which could cost a bit). My wife was thinking of lattice all the way around the deck... I dislike the look of lattice to enclose the space beneath a low-to-the-ground deck.

Have you seen any other ideas that will look really nice?

I'm told the that the resulting melons will not be watermelon but will be influenced by the cucumbers and not be "correct".

Ive tried to make a lattice, used them for a frame, what other project can you think of? Keep in mind they are flimsy yardsticks, but can still be painted. Any ideas?

No matter how I did it there was always overspray and some of the finish needs to be buffed. Can I do this? What do people do after painting furniture to make it the smoothest it can be? Please give me any advice and things I need to do. What type of cloth or buffing pads or things to use? Thanks.

the shingles are fine but that side of the garage the plywood is rotted about 4 inches up. there are no gutters on this garage never has been. can i replace the wood and renail that row of shinges to it or is there another cheap alternative to repair it? i can put my hand under the first fow of shingles(of course where the wood is rotted the nails are no longer holding). on the other side there is a cover over the plywood so that side is fine.

That is inexpensive to do? My daughters play room is cluttered and I would like to make it look more tidy and together but don't want to spend a fortune on it... Are there any ideas to make it look more cleaner..? Other than getting rid of all their toys? We do that atleast once a year.. I was thinking of a way to hide it in something... Any cheap easy ideas?

I have stockade fence that I need to stain and I'm not sure how much stain I should buy. So before I trust the sales people, I would like to have a little bit of an idea about it before I go shopping. The fence is 225 feet in length and 6 feet high and I need to stain both sides.

My toilet was leaking, I replaced the tank bolts, and the innards of the tank. When I did that I realized that the shut off valve TO the toilet leaks, and never really shuts off. I think I can replace it, but any advice will be appreciated. It's ruining my flooring around the toilet and the wax ring may be leaking now too.

If someone has plans on building the box, please let me in on it.
My soil is shot and the last three years my plants have started to dry up from the bottoma and the leaves are turning yellow. I will grow the plants upside next year.

Thanks
Byrl
