my glass lenses read: R: Sph (+0.5) Cyl (-2.75) Axis (x60) L: Sph(+0.5) Cyl (-4.50) Axis (x110). My optician has prescribed me the contact lenses softperm for my Keratoconus, with the following R: Sph (-2.50) B.C(7.3) L: Sph (-2.75) B.C (7.3).
However, the Softperm website (http://procare.cibavision.com/pdf/softperm.pdf) says that Softperm may be worn by persons whose eyes exhibit astigmatism of 4.00 diopters (D) OR LESS that does not interfere with visual acuity.
I was thinking that I am not eligible for the Softperm lenses since my left eye reads Cyl (-4.50). Am I right in assuming so?

over my eyes sometimes. Sometimes it will be for days straight and sometimes it won't happen for a whole day. I dunno what the deal is. It's like I just can't get my eyes focused or something. Kind of like when you first wake up in the AM and you have to wipe your eyes to get them to see clearly. Except mine are like that all day. I really need my eyes to work for my job. I have no insurance or I'd already be at the eye doctor. I may try to go anyway. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong?

I've been researching, and I have a question: if you get the kind of unfixable blurred vision from optic nerve damage or burst blood vessels within eyes, can it makes you more near sighted or will it make your vision blurier in general, close or far? I was diagnosed a month or two ago with 20/40 vision in my left eye and 20/80 in my right. If I put my hands right in front of my fave or look at the keyboard I type on, its clear. If I look at something farther away, its very blurry in my right eye.

A month ago I started on adderall and developed a minor eye infection of some sort that gave me eye boogers all day and made me constantly blink. I still blink a lot and HARD as a compulsion. I'm not sure if my vision is damaged from popped blood vessels from blinking hard or if its in my head. Can that make you more near-sighted?

Also, my blood pressure is still low despite the medicine but I don't know about my eye-pressure.

And yes, I'm making an appointment to see an ophthalmologist instead of just a glasses doctor. Thank you so much if you can answer.

My eyes are not bad, I am 20/20 but I have an astigmatism so until recently, they never made contacts that I could wear. I usually only wear my glass when I drive at night, play sports or go to a show. But this last time at the optometrist they told me that they made contacts now, so I decided to try them. With them in, it seems that I really don't see any better than without them, though I probably do. My question though pertains to my periferal vision. It seems that things seem really fuzzy at the edges of my vision, not just my normal fuzzyness, but really, really fuzzy. Is this normal?

This is for all the doctors, eye surgeons, opthalmologists or neurologists, and even for the other helpful people...
my bro had optic nerve tumor(called glioma)... his nerve had converted into a tumor and had to be operated and taken out coz it was growing and moving towards the brain... now his optic nerve of right eye is removed i.e. he is visionless from that eye....
i want to know whther anyone knows any way to replace or regenerate optic nerve .. coz we really are upset about him being unable to see from his one eye....
as u know, we get only 2D images from one eye and to get 3D images, having two working eyes are must...
if anyone of u knows any way to get him his vision back then do reply to this one..
thanku

An optometrist told me that there are special workbooks with exercises to aid kids who have amblyopia. These workbooks include 3D puzzles and games for preschoolers and kindergarteners. They are not found in my area (in fact, retailers that you'd expect to carry such an animal have no knowledge of them) and I can't find anything online.

Chicagoland is an easy drive for me so I believe these books are within reach.

If you know of what I want, please respond and provide titles. If you can also provide a retailer or etailer, that would be a bonus. Resources do not need to be in Chicagoland.

Thanks much!

I have worn contacts for a year and a half, and for the last four months or so, I've worn them far more often than I should. I'm supposed to wear them only up to 16 hours a day, but I leave them in for 2-3 weeks.

It seems that my vision is getting worse, too... not by a whole lot but words are fuzzier on the board.

Have I completely f*cked up my vision because of contacts, or is it all in my head? Should I see the optometrist?

I was prescribed acuvue advanced for toric. The doctor said I was a "perfect candidate" for toric lenses and that the lenses would eventually make my astigmatism go away.

my cousin has had glasses forever. but now he wants contacts. how does it work? I have 20/20 vision so I don't know much about contacts. any info would help...like how much it would be...the thing I am confused about is order-in contacts. don't you need a prescription from your eye doctor to get contacts? not just some random company ?
