When i was sixteen i was too cool for school i had great looking girls going after me, loads of friends, i was oozing confidence and the world was my oyster. When i left school i got into drugs and inadvertantly replaced my good friends with some not so good friends, i was spending all my cash on drugs even selling my stuff to pay for it so the girls weren't interested, i lost all my confidence because before i knew it 2 years had passed and i'd barely worked and i was just bitter because i kept thinking that maybe my teachers and my parents could have put me on the right path to a steady future but instead chose to let me drift through my life comfortably, i was stealing from my dad at this point and one time when he realised his cash was missing he told me how dissapointed he was with me and it was enough to get me off the hash and the weed, i cleaned up my act but still look in the mirror and see a once cool guy now loser, how do i feel and look like i did back then

People say that the best way to get over a fear is by facing it... Well, I have tried facing my fears, but it never works...

I mean, my top 4 fears are death, heights, rejection, and stage fright. I really can't get over the death thing.. that is enevitable, but the other three... I'd really like to overcome those fears... Any tips to how I could gradually overcome these, besides looking over the edge of a building or something?

my mum is severely depressed,it isnt helped by her so called husband. she is on prozac, to be taken every day, and if she doesnt take it he makes a big issue of it in front of lots of people, usually down the pub.i dont speak to her any more for years of abuse, both from her and previous partners, they also both drink a lot which im sure doesnt help.i finally got my life sorted around three eyars ago, i made a life for myself with my best friendf who i love mroe than anything in the world, we have a two year old son, things couldnt be better... except soemtimes i get down, i dont know why. i get paranoid and easily upset. i cry over silly things, and i am unable to explain why i feel this way as even in my own head it douns stupid.
i used to self harm, though managed to quit after getting sorted out, i have tried suicide too many times. i didnt bond with my son until he was over a year old, people told me this was post natal depression.

did my mum turn me into a manic depressive>?

I have read through questions on the mental health section and i am apalled. Do you people who suggest that ppl with mental health issues 'should just get over it' or are 'attention seeking' are being in someway intelligent. People with mental health problems are vunerable and this kind of response to somebody who has an illness is irresponsible. If these people are so desperate they have no one to talk to that they feel the need to discuss it with complete strangers over the net (unfortunately an ever increasing thing, but a blessing as long as the right sort of ppl are online!) is it too much to ask that we try and either offer them sympathetic advice or if we dont know enough about a subject - leave them alone!Depression is an illness like any other, an imbalancement of the chemicals in the brain, you need help, support and medication to irradicate the problem. It is unfortunate in this day and age that we are still so uneducated and naive about something so common.

I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Mood Disorder 2 months ago and I have been surfing the net for possible info that I could get to educate myself and my family. Well, things are gettings better everyday as I pray hard and take my medications regularly. I got so interested with this topic knowing that there are many people out there like me. I searched amazon.com and found many references but I can not pin point which of those is the best. So, I am asking those who have tried purchasing books for Bipolar Mood Disorder and please do give me your suggestions based on your reading experiences. I will greatly appreciate your answers. It will help me and some who are in this condition. Please do specify the Title and the Author of the Book/s so it would be easy for me to look for them. I am from the Philippines and it's quite hard to look for books like these because in our Country, BMD is not yet that accepted in the society. So, please help me. I believe you can.. thanks a lot. Bye.......
