"Weed" affects the respiratory system first. The smoke contains lot's of poisons and isn't that dissimilar from cigarette smoke.
Then the THC enters the blood stream through the lungs depositing itself in the fatty tissues until it reaches the brain where their is a receptor for the THC. When the THC and it's receptor bind, Dopamine (an endorphin) is released into the brain giving a sense of euphoria.
Other side effects may be paranoia, increased appetite, lethargy and a tendency to say things like, "Huh?...", "Dude..." and, "Yeah, mon...".
No real herbs or suppliments that equal weeds' effects. Just weed.

Check it out yourself...no one can answer the question properly because you have to experience it to know what it does to you. There are no vitamins or minerals that give the same effect...it is the THC chemical that does the job...and only ganja produces it.

A question asked and answered by stoners. It is clear all are stoners and likely stoned because all of this is barely english. The true answer to your question is that marijuana affects the limbic system of the brain. It ultimately affects all areas of the brain, and contrary to popular belief, it isn't good for you. It is an alkaloid neurotoxin designed by the infinite wisdom of evolution to protect the cannabis sativa plant from predation by insects. It is one of nature's most highly evolved and effective pesticides. It is not legal for anyone in the U.S. to use smokeable marijuana for any reason. There is legally prescribed delta-9-THC pills called Marinol, or Dronabinol, but most physicians won't prescribe it for any reason because it's not medically useful, and it is so damaging to the immune system that it does more harm than good. Potheads suffer from problems such as life-long sleep disturbance, and anti-motivational syndrome as well as memory problems, and weed is likely to cause cancers of the glandular systems of the head and neck. The truth is that it is an addictive drug that destroys lives. There are no vitamines or minerals that do the same thing because those things aren't poisonous.

I don't believe there are advantages other then it does something to trick the brain into thinking you hungry (this is why AIDS and cancer patients can use it legally).
As for a comparison of minerals and vitamins I don't know of any that equate to Weed.
