Firstly, I would need to know what you are on Prozac for...anxiety, stress ....both...or another ailment.....Its probably not the best to stay on Prozac long term....I just thinking of your stomach lining.....and such....You could try a natural remedy for what is ailing you....failing that....I just hope you are getting regular counselling along with that Prozac perscription....not just popping pills because your GP gives them to you....It is really a good idea to talk things through with a counsellor and or a psychologist if you can afford one.....these people are properly trained and have the very best advice which would be structured just for you.....I wish you luck with your Prozac but try and seek a counsellor or just tell your GP how you are feeling and he may send or refer you to a Mental Health Service nearby you for further counselling...OK...Cheers LW

I don't think staying on tablets for depression long term is a good idea I was on prozac for 2 years and was then weaned off them I think we have to try and help ourselves

Simply, yes.
Some people merely don't produce enough "happy hormones" so need a drug like prozac/fluoxetine to boost their own body's natural levels.
It can be difficult to decide whether to stay on it if you become pregnant or not (unsure of your gender) but that's a decision each individual has to make based on pros and cons.

you should really ask your doctors advise on your medication. I was on Prozac for 7 years and eventually i was taken off it. not straight way it was slowly reduce until i was off it. i feel that it is mind over matter telling yourself your calm and not gong to worry so much can really help you don't need a little tablet to rule your life. tell your self that it is you in control of your life life is a gift and we should enjoy it. treat yourself make yourself feel good you don't want to become in-dependant on medication. be strong your worth more.

You can stay on it for the long term, in fact it would be recommended. And for those who say you are worth more - remember depression is a physical illness and we wouldn't say to someone with a broken leg 'oh take that plaster off, you're worth more'.

Do not use tablets for sleeping. By meditation and prayer you can get sleep.

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

long term is generally okay...but the idea is you eventually want to get off of it. you want to be able to feel calm and not worried when you're not taking anything. having the mentality of depending on this "magic pill" won't help though so you need to first start trusting yourself that you can live without drugs
