How can you stop it from happening?

2006-06-20 22:05:05 · 14 answers · asked by Pat 4

Last week was a very difficult week for me, I was feeling so depressed and so dead inside out. I couldn't think clear and didn't want to do anything-even the things I enjoyed just a week before! I was so different, like a totally different person!
Thank goodness, I got more anti-depression med from my dr. on this Monday and I was able to put myself back together day by day.
But still, I felt something had changed, what used to be interesting to me is sill tasteless to me... And because I couldn't do anything last week, I have to deal with some consequnce now... And come down to it, I just don't know who I am and feel quite lost at the moment.
Any comment is appreciated but I'd really like to hear opinions from other bipolar people. Do you feel completely different toward a person / thing after been depressed? What do you do? What do you do when it come to something like "commitment" / "promise?" I found it hard to keep promise as I don't know what's going to happen to me.

I think I'm bipolar and the likelihood of that being true is quite high, seeing as how my brother is bipolar. If my mom found out she would be hurt and she would get extremely pissed at me. I've been trying to simply wait until I was 18 so that I could get help without her knowing but lately I've become highly bipolar, going from promiscuous manic states to suicidal depressive states. I have everything ready for a suicide all the time and it scares me that I probably will end up doing it someday in one of my depressive states. I'm a heavy cutter already.
For everyone who thinks I'm just being a typical teenager by saying that my mother will get pissed if she finds out, keep in mind that she hit me for talking to a boy about something other than schoolwork on the phone one time and that she yells at me every day for something.

The grey mood prevails through out the day at times. other wise i am nice to all my colleagues there is no pent up anger on any one. but at home i am always patience less and get angry over small things even such as a childs playful things or shouting. gritting the teeth , blind rage becomes the spontanious reaction. Though i am able to control any voilent actions, does it have any remeady.

I want real facts here. Maybe a site that can prove what happens. I can speak English and Spanish and the Mexicans with whom I have spoken on this issue say that they Illegal Americans aren't treated badly, but the Americans say that they are beaten, jailed, etc. I want to know the truth.
Thank you for any useful information.

Are there any depression meds that won't make you tired or leave you feeling numb after you are on them for a while when ever i get them I always feel good and like they are helping at first and then i start feeling really tired and eventually before i know it if i stay on them long enough I start to just be like LALALALA everything is great and its just doesn't seem right I don't care about the things I used to care about and nothing gets to me. I can't seem to find a real doctor that wants to help they all just give me what ever the new fab drug is it really sucks.

My grandmother is bipolar. She quit taking her meds 2 years ago, but seemed mostly ok until January when my grandfather died. After his death, she completely freaked out and went manic, spent $50K on junk, and had visions. We got her to take her medicine again, but as soon as she felt better she quit taking it. Now she is acting nuts again, but instead of being happy and manic, she is extremely anxious. She worries about completely irrational things, she says she doesn't have any money (she has a ton of money in the bank) and can't afford groceries, she thinks people are planning to rob her or attack her, etc....We got her to go to her psychiatrist, and he prescribed Zyprexa, Zanax (sp?), and Depakote, but they don't seem to be working. She has been taking these medicines for a month now, and she hasn't had any improvement. She absolutely refuseds therapy and hospital care. What are your experiences with bipolar disorder, and what can I do for my grandmother?

Will it work out? Or should I leave while I still have the chance. He is a very nice guy and he makes me feel very good about myself. When he is having good days, it's like we're on top of the world. But then he has bad days and it can be so difficult to see him hurting. I guess I have never had daily contact with someone who has depression. Can you make them feel better on the days that are bad? He is on medication, but when he takes the medication it makes him have very bad days. What should I do?
