I seen a program last night where they advised this man that his blood pressure was high.

They told him that his pressure was x over y (eg 70 over 30)

Can somebody explain what this means please? The over bit.

Thanks

I have been having a heck of a time getting to sleep and staying asleep. I was wondering if there are any bad side effects of taking an OTC sleep aid??

Lately I have been sleeping way longer than I normally do. I work rotating shifts so every month I work a stretch of 12am-8am shifts and I usually dont get much sleep that week. But even when I go back to a normal sleep schedule I'll go to bed around 12 or 1 am and be up no later than 8. However the last several days Ive been getting up between 10 and noon after going to bed at the same time! I also still feel just as awake as usual or even a tad tired during the afternoon. is this odd or is something wrong?

My dad is going to be 59 this month. My mom, sister, and I are actually worried about what has been happening to him lately. First off, one normal night of him coming back from work and after dinner, he went over to the couch and all of a sudden started shivering. Mind you, this is on a normal summer night where it wasn't even cold at all. He started to shiver as though he just came out of the antarctic sea. He asked us to give him a sweater and some blankets in a quick hurry. This freaked us out but he was okay after about 10 minutes when he just relaxed and got back to normal.

We thought it might just be the beginning of the flu or something. However, he has been complaining that he is waking up at night, or not sleeping at all. It's apparent that he is just stressed about financial situations and other things. The shivering happened again, this time he was at his shop (hes a mechanic), and he ended up closing b/c of it. He's going to the doc's soon, but what do u think is wrong?

I'm doing an article to what I think is a solution to America's healthcare problems. I just want everyone else's opinions on what they think a solution is and why? Also what do you think is the biggest problem with America's healthcare?

Yesterday, i felt very fatigued when i was going to sleep, after some time i was shivering with cold, fast breath, etc..
after i woke up the other day i went to have my blood pressure measured it was 110/70 ...
i don't know if that is relevant but i drank 2 espressos in half an hour (i dont drink coffee usually, but to make me awake as i was driving a long distance late at night)..

I'm not an addict or anything, but for the past few weeks maybe once or twice a weekl, I take about 4 or 5 non-aspirin tylenol pm to help me sleep (I work very early, and my schedule gets really messed up so I have difficulty going to bed at the normal hour). I never get "high" on them...just get extremely tired and pass out after about 2 hours of taking them. So, question is...I know obviously taking that amount is not good for you in any way, (and I actually have stopped it altogether) but what are the risks involved? Thanks for any input!

I've been pooping about 10-12 times a day. I thought it was normal until I consulted a close friend. The time on the pot has allowed me to read through a number of books lately but I'm kind of getting tired of it, and I'm running a high water bill. Could this be because I recently got married? Please help!?!

I've been having heart palpations every few hours, chest pains especially when i take a deep breath, dizziness every so often, and headaches. I'm kinda scared, because i've been having this for a couple of days, and today i got kinda sick too, with headache and sore throat and such. I'm not entirely sure what's causing this. It's getting me nervous. Anyone have any advice on what i should do? I also suffer anorexia with purging so I don't know if that would contribute to it at all...

Wondering what could cause a really rapid drop in hemoglobin, I had bloodwork taken in the morning(dr's appt) and in the evening(12 hours later) I had to go to the ER because I felt like utter crud(weak, dizzy) at the ER they said my hemoglobin was 30, it was 36 in the morning. (they could access that info because it was all the same medical center) No apparent cause of bleeding(stool check negative) so I hope its nothing really bad but I guess I should go to my doctor to follow it up. I don't drink, do drugs, or anything I can think of that would make it drop like that.

Getting tonsils taken out on 24th this month. I am 23 and have had strep throat once a year every year since I was a little girl. The doctor explained the procedure to me and said that it will take about 2 weeks to recover and I will be in pain afterwards. I'm really doing this because I have bad sinus problems and I'm so sick of strep throat it gets worse year. It it really worth it?
