It depends on what you are taking them for. If you are taking them for weight loss, for example, they are a waste.. To lose weight, you need to eat right and exercise. If you are using supplements to keep your health at a positive, I think some of them are great. Fish oil is a great supplement, and so is flax oil softgels, for the Omega-3 benefit. Also, with the winter approaching, it is very good to take supplements that help the immune system. There are some good mushroom extracts, as well as zinc , vitamin C, and Co-enyzme Q 10, that are very beneficial with overall health. Also and most importantly, is a multi vitamin supplement. Even though fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and minerals, if you do not eat a lot of fruits and veggies, most of the vitamins will pass when you go the bathroom and a nice multivitamin helps to replenish what you lose when you go the bathroom.

very beneficial, the food we eat might look pretty but we don't always know how and where it is grown.. so I have been supplementing since I was a kid....especially over the winter to stave off colds and flu . I think it is important to keep your immune system sharp and ready to fight, I am not into heavy prescriptions to treat colds and flu's... I am more into natural herb items such as a good diet, and supplements of minerals, vitamins that the body requires on a daily basis...Now a days with so much process food out there being shoved into our faces, people have lost sight of what real food and good nutrition is...and they don't want to take the time to prepare it.... they are so busy eating this stuff as a daily diet instead of a snack or treat once in a while, that they are overloading their systems with cra* and the body doesn't get what it needs to function properly and fight infections...
So, yes, I agree in today's society it is a dire necessity.....

It depends what kind of supplements you are taking about. If you are taking about magnesium, iron, garlic etc. they are definitely beneficial. Even if you have an balanced diet you do not get enough daily requirements of the vitamins. magnesium and iron is very important for your body garlic saves you from high blood pressure so I think that it is very beneficial.

What is a well balanced diet? It means we have to some how taken in a wide range of vitamins and minerals every single day! When you look at the foods and what vitamins, minerals they contain, if I set about to eat three meals per day that contain every vitamin and mineral, reckon I would either be sick from eating, or full after one meal and only half the vitamin intake. Likewise if you have a chronic illness, you probably lack in certain vitamins. I have Arthritis and anemia hits me three times a year, so I try and keep my iron, folic acid levels up in hope to avoid anemia.
