Tonsillectomy, worth it?

Getting tonsils taken out on 24th this month. I am 23 and have had strep throat once a year every year since I was a little girl. The doctor explained the procedure to me and said that it will take about 2 weeks to recover and I will be in pain afterwards. I'm really doing this because I have bad sinus problems and I'm so sick of strep throat it gets worse year. It it really worth it?

I was young when I had mine out. Looking back I thought it was worth it, as I always got tonsillitis and it was horrible.

My brother got his done at the same time.... he cried a lot (6 yrs younger than me) he healed a lot faster by being able to cry and scream. Took me longer because I didn't cry out loud.

it definitely is worth it. i also used to get strep throat allll the time, and i got my tonsils taken out and i havent had strep for about 5 years now. its really the best thing i could have done. of course its going to be sore for a while, but hey its an excuse to eat ice cream and pudding constantly, and you get to be out of work for a while too. good luck

it replaced into quite worth it for my area. your dr might want to no longer have help it replaced into mandatory cuz quite its yoru own decision. obviously your tonsils are not from now on operating authentic it is why you have become tonsillitis now. you receives no extra sick than familiar once you've your tonsils out. the major hardship that would want to ensue is you commence bleeding plenty throughout the time of restore. i visit allow you to understand that i did not bleed in any respect nonetheless. for different ability topics you should confer with an ENT as they're those that understand all about tonsillectomies.

You will be miserable for a couple of weeks but it is worth it not to have strep throat again.

It is very painful recovery at that age. but it will be worth it in the long run. Just be prepared with lots of popsicles. etc.
