after i woke up the other day i went to have my blood pressure measured it was 110/70 ...
i don't know if that is relevant but i drank 2 espressos in half an hour (i dont drink coffee usually, but to make me awake as i was driving a long distance late at night)..

Because you don't usually drink coffee, drinking two cups of espressos in half an hour might be too much for you. Anxiety attacks such as fast breath, feelings of lethargy or fatigue; nervousness ; shivering with cold are all the negative effects of caffeine to a sensitive individual such as yourself. You shouldn't be concerned about your blood pressure as 110/70 is within normal range.

But to get to your question, if your blood pressure should drop; you should try to ambulate or move around. Drink some fluids or water. Or try to eat something. Try to relax if the cause is an anxiety or panic attack. These might be some of the common reasons why you're hypotensive. Other grave ones might be bleeding or MI or heat attack.

Next time, don't rely on coffee to keep you awake. Try traveling with a companion. Listen to upbeat music. on the radio or CD. Or make frequent stops along the way for rest and sleep. .

110/70 isn't too bad of a blood pressure reading. anything that drops below 90/60 is considered hypotensive.

sounds like you might've had a panic or anxiety attack. symptoms include
-tachycardia (rapid heartrate)
-palpitations (feeling as if your heart is jumping out of your chest)
-cold sweats
-shortness of breath
-overwhelming feeling that you're going to die
-hyperventilation (rapid breathing)

these can be common in some people when having nightmares or waking up from one.

the coffee could have also been a factor. caffeine rapidly raises your heartrate and blood pressure and when it wears off, both rates (heart and pressure) can "crash" causing them to go from very high to very low in a short period of time. if you notice that coffee or other caffeineted drinks cause this, i would avoid them completely-i do this with energy drinks so i stay away from them at all costs.

severe hypotension can cause

-dizziness/passing out
-cold sweats
-feeling overly sleepy or lethargic
-palpitations (your heart is speeding up trying to compensate for the low blood pressure)
-chest pain

if you feel any of these symptoms you should immediately lie down and have someone call 911 for you or do it yourself. do NOT drive yourself to the emergency room. lie still, taking slow deep breaths until the paramedics arrive.

sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a panic attack and something more serious like a heart attack or blood pressure issues b/c the symptoms are all alike. it's always best to get checked out.

hope this helps
