I am sure I'm just experiencing normal excruciating migraines, but it has gotten to the point that I wonder if there could be something else going on.

They usually start in the back of my head and neck and soon my temples, front of my head and jaws are throbbing as well. They happen a couple times a month usually. Which I know isn't horrible, but it stops me from doing anything because I can't function with the pain.

I was born with hydrocephalus. I got lucky and things were taken care of when I was an infant. Is is possible that it could cause problems later in life?

I know this is far stretched, but if nothing else, if anyone has any advice or can recommend medicine/things you can do to treat migraines, I would greatly appreciate it.

PS I am currently a college student without insurance, so talking to a doctor right now isn't an option.

I have psoriatic arthritis..have had it for over 30 years....the symptoms have been mild enough for hot showers, aspirin, and using the involved joints dispite swelling and pain when they flare but recently my M.D. has prescribed feldene-to take when needed for joint pain.

I was on it for a short period of time when it first came on the market, but my then physician had reservations and I've been able to avoid prescription meds for it until now....my lower back and both ankles/knees complain too much at this point and the aspirin only gives partial relief....he tells me it's almost as safe as aspirin...I'm wondering if anyone else is using it and how successful the pain relief/management has been with it...thanx....

About 30 mins. ago (which is when I first woke up) I experienced my most painful Charley Horse in my Left leg. I always comsume a great amount of potassium (Just because I like a lot of what it is carried in [ex. Bananas]) and I drink plenty of orange juice. But What is it that I may be lacking of getting too many of to cause me to get these Charley Horses?

I have had restless leg syndrome since I was a teenager, but lately I have been having similar sensations in my arms as well. Both occur simultaneously. In addition, the uncomfortable feelings are more intense in my groin area. I typically wake up shortly affter falling asleep with it, and it keeps me up for anywhere from a half hour to an hour and a half. There seems to be no correlation to caffeine, and I have tried stretching before bed. Nothing seems to work. Anyone else know this feeling? Does stress have anything to do with it? I also exercise (weights, running) regularly.

I am looking for people who were in the same situation as myself. I dislocated my knee when I was 17 and never saw a doctor. Because of that I now in my 50s surfer from osterarthritis. my right knee is so painfull now it's hard to walk very far. I am getting physical therapy but so far no help. I am need to lose weight at least 50 lbs so I am hoping that makes a difference too but there's no gurantee. if it stays this way with this pain after minimal walking I need do something to fix it . The doc doesnt want to do knee replacement as I am way too young because it only has a 10 year life. Are there any other options out there instead of induring this pain? I want to travel this summer and do things that require walking and if i have this knee pain I have to give it up. I am too young to be this limited and need to see if anyone has been in the same place and opted for alternative surgeries to knee replacement and was successfull

I am on Zomorph slow release tablets and Oramorph to help with break through pain due to cancer. The side effects are awful and really affect my asthma. I asked my Dr if I could have morphine patches instead of tablets and after agreeing that they would perhaps be better for me said the PCT wouldn't allow him to prescribe them due to costs!! I couldn't believe it. Anyway would he be able to prescribe it as a private prescription if I pay for it? If so have you any idea how much they are? Thanks in advance....x

When I drink alcohol, I do not start to feel nausea. Instead I I start to get chest pain. After even one drink, my chest will start to feel really tight. It feels like someone is squeezing my chest so hard that it hurts a little to breathe. I dont drink very often (only about once every 3-4 months) and I usually drink the fruity/girly drinks like a sex on the beach or a singapore sling. Sometimes I can get two drinks in but sometimes I cant even finish one without feeling pain. If I stop drinking, the pain will go away in about 30-45 mins. Is this normal? Is it something I should be worried about?

My DR. prescribed me Valium 5 mgs for muscle spasms in my back. He told me to take them with the Percocet that I also take twice a day. I did not take them with the Percocet because I have never taken this stuff and didn't want to be completely out of it. I took one Valium this morning at 6:30am and it is now 2:00pm and I feel so horrible! Groggy, tired and I have a headache. Almost like I'm hungover! I have dumped that Valium down the toilet. I will never take that stuff again! When can I expect to feel better???

I know that one answer is that people who don't have chronic pain can never fully understand, but I'd still like to know if there is some way to explain it to others, some way to make people understand why those of us in chronic pain can't be expected to function "normally." Anybody have any suggestions, or is there a web site with tips on how to explain to significant others, loved ones, family members, chronic pain and its effects, and how to deal with people in chronic pain ?

does anyone have any information on risks etc regarding surgery on a C3-4 protruding disc which is touching and has possibly pierced the thecal sac around spinal cord. it is affecting my throat ie swallowing/eating, breathing and pulse rate if i slightly tilt my head forward or move the wrong way i pass out. I rather concerned about the possible outcome of this kind of surgery in that area as i have a family and 2 young children.

I have a crumbling spine & have been off work for quite a while (I am back now) this is a recurring problem & have now been told by my boss i have to be referred to Occ Health again. (This is the 2nd time)There are 5 things that can happen to me. the worst is I can be, 1.medically retired & not able to work again.2.medically retired from NHS 3.NHS find me another job (but this won't make my back improve so the sickness will probably not improve) a couple of others which i can't remember them. So what do you think my chances are of either keeping or losing my job? A light insight to my job is i work with patients in a clinic, which is not physical.. By the way when i applied for the job 3 years ago i was more than honest with my back on the application form & at the interview.
