You are in for a rough ride, my friend. I was addicted to drugs for a long time, and detoxing from anything sucks. You just have to stay home, lock the doors, make sure you have no pain pills in the house AT ALL, lock your keys in your car so you can't drive anywhere (so you can't go get more), and just sleep as much as possible because you don't want to be awake for all the shakes, sweating, etc. Good luck.

Well, we really need a little more info on the situation.Like how long have you been abusing pain meds? What kind? I can share my experince with you. I had been taking the pain med known as Ultram (tramadol) for 2yrs. I was'nt getting them from a doc. I was abusing the pills really bad.I could'nt go a day without them and if I did I would get real sick. Shoot, I was taking 16 to 20 200mgs a day.I got real sick one day and I went to the hospital and I told them I was addicted to ultram and I was in serious withdrawl. At the hospital they gave me 3 ultram to stop me from going into sezuires I guess, then they gave me a precription for 40 more. I was suppose to wean off of them. Take 5 for two days, 4 for 3 days, you know, wean myself. I went home and took 8 more. I really messed up so what I am telling you is if you are strong enough to do it by yourself you have to just keep lowering the dose everyday. I had to get on methadone to help me. That was back in 2001 and I am still on it. Hope I did'nt put ya to sleep but I sure wish you the best trying to come off of pain pills. They sure are wicked. If you need any more help feel free to e-mail me at : klinedarlene@yahoo.com You'll be in my prayers!!

You probably are going to need some help. If you can't or don't want to go to a rehab center, you should at least get a dr. to advise you and monitor you. If your body is used to the pills, it can be risky to just stop. If it's a matter of money that's keeping you from looking for professional help, check for a health clinic in your area.

slowly start taking urself off of them and replacing them with extra strength tylenol or anything similar. depending on the drug, you'll probably still be a little groggy and have a headache, but that'll go away a few days after.

it's next to impossible to do it at home. Just go to a rehab center.
