the holter monitor is a device affixed to people with wires attached to similar sticky ports that are attached to the skin....almost like the ekg... some people have irregular hearbeats, and wearing this for 24 hours can help the doc determine the problem with the patient.....
I would imagine you would need to be a lab tech to do this, that is a 2-3 year course at university......but some places will take someone with past health experience and train them to do the job....... money in canada at a hospital would probably start around $24.00 + perhour....

a holter monitoring technician is a person that maintains holter monitoring equipment, sets up patients with the monitor for home use and explains their function. Most medical assistants are taught how to do this as a part of their job function. I doubt you would get the training as a holter technician all by itself, you need to look into training as a medical assistant.

Holter monitoring is continuous monitoring of the electrical activity of a patient's heart muscle (electrocardiography) for 24 hours, using a special portable device called a Holter monitor. Patients wear the Holter monitor while carrying out their usual daily activities.
