My doctor switched me from percocet to vicodin because the percocet dosn't work for me anymore since I have been taking it for a while.

My question IS :: If my body dosn't feel the percocet anymore why would switching to vicodin be a idea? He said its two differen't chemicals and my body will feel the vicodin since I have never used it before.

Is this A true statement?

I recently found out I was pregnant and my friend who has had a child told me that the only otc pain pill her doctor recommended was acetaminphen free tylenol, now I thought the whole deal with the tylenol brand was that it was acetaminophin, like advil is ibuprofen, etc. Anyway, does such a thing exist? Thank You.

I have to take intramuscular injections with a 22 g needle every week. I've been doing this for about six months and will be continuing to do so for quite some time. When I first started it was easy but then after a few painful experiences it's been getting harder and harder to do. I imagine this big needle going into my leg and it just sucks. What do I do?

I got admitted to the ER in the evening and was released at midnight. My charges are for the 5th and the 6th which puts me as an inpatient since it was regarded as overnight. Do hospitals bill just bill for the entire day regardless of when you are released? The doctor that discharged me is only billing me for the 5th so I am very confused and unsure what to do.

before it gets started. I feel one coming on. But, I've never found anything to stop them before they get bad. I can't take the Imitrex and a few other like it...is there anything else that someone knows of?

I have the aurora starting now...I know the signs (unfortunately).
Thank you!

What should we pack with us in our hospital suitcase? Also, he is a fairly heavy smoker. He wants to quit, and we have ordered an herbal remedy to help him quit that is supposed to arrive the same day as the surgery. He is going to wake up from surgery feinding for a ciggarette, but I don't think it will be wise for him to get up, go outside and smoke, especially since he is trying to quit b/c his back won't heal well if he is still smoking (as the physical therapist has told us). He hates the patch (has used it before and we have some left), but should I bring it with us to the hospital and (with Dr.'s approval, of course), slap it on him before he wakes up? Or maybe when he wakes up?

This monday I had a blood clot removed from my tongue. It was about the size of a pen tip. The swelling has only gone down a little bit so far. How long does it normally take? I cannot talk or eat because it is so swollen. I am also leaving town on sunday to go to camp. Will it be gone by then? Do you have any remidies?
Any of advice is welcome. Thank you very much.

OK, so it was very hot yesterday....more than 102 degrees F....and I did the best I could with water, food, air conditioning, and so on. I never allowed myself to get hungry or dehydrated....and believe me, I KNOW when I am dehydrated because the veins in my hands stick out....and they weren't doing that last night. I didn't get the auras that you often see with heat exhaustion, either, but I was nauseous as hell and ended up vomiting at one point. I had been out of the air-conditioed room for about an hour; but as I said, I wasn't dehydrated and HAD eaten well. Could the vomiting still have been caused by the heat, even though I wasn't having dehydration symptoms? Or do you think maybe it was just something I ate?

My stomach was bugging me for about 8-10 hours, but I only vomited a couple of times.

Hehe....sorry for the gross-out!

I currently use prescribed 500 mg of ibprofin but Im afraid im going to fry my kidneys. Indeed I already have had kidney stones. I have used prescribed Naproxen with great improvements in the pain but I would get some stomach upset occasionally.

OTC's aren't strong enough, so please don't recommend anything like that.

Is there any other options.

I was walking on the beach on a hot day and i had shoes on that were way too small and i got a blister. The blister got sand in it, and now it's infected. Plus i accidently put liquid bandaid on it. I guess it didnt help that i had to carry a 10 pound bag and walked a mile and a half to get to the other side of the beach. I just moved and i don't have health insurance to see the doctor. If you can tell me how to sooth the pain or how to help get rid of it that would be a great help!!!

For about a month now I have been getting random pains. Mostly I get them in my fingers. Lately I have been getting them in my ankles and sometimes my wrists. I also feel them in my shoulders from time to time. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? They only last for maybe a minute, and on a 1-10 scale it is most like a 3, not very painful at all. I was just wondering what someone thought. Thanks!

I do not drink coffee because I get muscle spasms in my face every time I do, but recently I was assigned in graveyard shift for my job and I have to drink coffee just to keep me awake the whole night. The muscle spasms in my face bothers me a lot and it can make me lose my concentration. I just want to know what causes that and if there's anything that can prevent it.

Hello all, I have asked this before and will ask again, I have also seen my doctor about this but all they want to do is feed me muscle relaxers. My doctor says that my sholder muscles on both sides are 95% of the time tense, and they will not loosen up. I can feel them hard as a rock all day long. It hurts all day everyday and even when i wake up. I have tried massauge but it does nothing for me, except for the time that they are massauging me, but i cant have someone attached to me giving me a massauge all day and night. so what can i do?
i was wondering if acupuncture would work?
nothing i have tired helps except for the muscle relaxers but i dont want to be taking thoes all the time. For them to make me feel better I would have to take one in the AM one in the afternoon and one at night. im only 21 and i dont want to have this forever,.... i am almost to the point to where i wanna go into the doctors and say cut the muscles out.
anyone have suggestions?!!

My sister asked me this and I don't have an answer for her. What would cause severe pain around your navel/waistline? It hurts all the way around to the backside. It lasts for about 5 minutes at a time and then goes away. But last night, it hurt her for about 15 mins. Any ideas?

My knee has been hurting me for about three weeks now. I first noticed it when I was playing in a softball game and I slid into second base. The next day it hurt very bad. And every day it has been painful. We tried iceing it and heating it and we treid a knee brace but none of those seem to work. My parents tell me every day oh you'll be fine, or it'll feel beter tommorow but it never does. Do you have any idea what i did to it? what do you think I should do. Finally should I use something to support it. Thanks for your help!
I AM 11
There is tenderness when I prees it and I can't bend it all that far. It hurts when I run and my parents still make me play ball on it.

This isn't a question, just a comment from an earlier closed question. WHAT?? Since when is a needle 'still' in the i.v. cannula as portrayed in one of the answers? I shrill at the amount of people who think they know everything about the medical profession. The second answer was just as laughable. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't ask the nurse to take a perfectly viable i.v. out (one that you ALREADY took the pain to get) just to be more mobile. Lets face it, you aren't going to be doing cartwheels while recieving your dose of meds/fluids, right? It is OK to bend your elbow, there isn't a needle in your arm, rather it is a flexible tube so you CAN bend it. The blood in the i.v. will eventually be flushed back, dpending on the rate of your infusion. Thanks, have a nice day.
