Take Advil or Motrin for pain and get tons of ORAJEL, which numbs the gums and takes away the initial pain. Good luck - it will get better!

I got braces... It hurt so bad that night & the next few days! Did they give you any wax strips to put on them to help.. I have had braces since last summer! Get a normal cup that you drink out of & fill it up half way with HOT water, then sprinkle a little salt in it... Then pour some in your mouth & swish it around for 5-10 seconds. Do the same untill ALL of the salt water in gone... ALSO if you don't talk that much because it will HURT! Do you have them on top or bottom OR both? The pain will go away with in 2 to 3 days:) Hope I helped!

ICE CREAM!!!
haha just kidding although i did eat alot of it when i got my braces on. also i took pain killers and i tried to stay away from foods that could be hard to chew. eat milkshakes, smoothies, soup, and mashed potatos until the pain goes away.
but just remember the pain will help...you will have a beautiful smile in about 2 yrs.

When i got my braces, i only ate soft foods for about 3 days. after that your going to want to start eating solids again. i was also told to bite down. it'll hurt for a while, but the sooner you get over with the pain, the sooner you can get back to regular eating. or thats what worked for me.

Take what ever OTC pain reliever you usually take like Tylenol or Advil. I would also suggest eatting soft cold things like ice cream or slushies.

if over the counter pain relievers are not enough ask for viccodin, maybe your orthadontist can perscribe you a few for today and tomorrow.
try thoes gell meds that numb your mouth look for the one with the higest ammount of the active ingredient in it.
