I recently found out I was pregnant and my friend who has had a child told me that the only otc pain pill her doctor recommended was acetaminphen free tylenol, now I thought the whole deal with the tylenol brand was that it was acetaminophin, like advil is ibuprofen, etc. Anyway, does such a thing exist? Thank You.

I think someone got confused - the doctor may have instructed her to take something aspirin free - acetaminephen is tylenol. My recollection from being pregnant is that for the first 4 months I couldn't take anything otc. After that tylenol only - no aspirin - no ibuprofen (advil or motrin)

no, acetaminophen is Tylenol, the doctor may have told your friend to take something else, like ibuprofen (Advil), but there is no such thing as acetaminophen free Tylenol.

Tylenol is the brand name of a product that is the drug acetaminphen. If it didn't contain acetaminphen it wouldn't be Tylenol.
