Don't mess around get the surgeon to check it, that's what your supposed to do if you have problems.

How long ago was the surgery?
If it was recent, it is normal to have swelling for a couple of months after the surgery. Also it is normal to have extra swelling after you first start walking again due to the pressures being placed in area's that are not normally used to having pressure placed on them.

I doubt the pin would be coming out from where it was screwed in. They are extremely hard to put it. They do it that was so that it holds tight. If you really feel strongly that something is wrong, go see your doctor and he might recommend you to get an xray on the area.
