I was walking on the beach on a hot day and i had shoes on that were way too small and i got a blister. The blister got sand in it, and now it's infected. Plus i accidently put liquid bandaid on it. I guess it didnt help that i had to carry a 10 pound bag and walked a mile and a half to get to the other side of the beach. I just moved and i don't have health insurance to see the doctor. If you can tell me how to sooth the pain or how to help get rid of it that would be a great help!!!

I'm not really sure if it is infected or not though.
I think it is. My friend said it might be. She was with me but her shoes fit fine! It turned kind of redish and i soaked them in water. It looks a little better but now i have to find a way to get rid of the sand! This is going to hurt!

soak it in some alcohol (this will hurt) which will kill the bacteria and infection and then dry the blister and put polysporin on it. Leave it to the open air and then repeat the process as necessary. Should help eliviate some of the pain and will definately help heal the blister faster. If it worsens go and see a doctor.

You HAVE to get that sand out first. That is what is causing the infection. Your body thinks that there is a foreign object and it is trying to expel it with pus and such which is where the infection is coming from. Best way to get the sand out is to buy a "saline wash kit" (i believe that is what its called). The wash kit comes out like a jet spray and will force the sand out of the wound, and is relatively inexpensive (10 bucks or so). Once this has been done then do the steps I set out in the first paragraph

First you need to clean the wound throughly. Use peroxide and an antibacterial ointment. Soak the wound in a salt water solution twice a day to promote healing but if you do not see any improvement you need to seek medical attention. The infection could move into your blood stream and cause serious complications.

If it's infected, you NEED to see a doctor. There is no safe home treatment that won't make it worse... And if it gets worse, it'll be a BIGGER problem - that might require hospitalization.

hydrogen peroxide to clean it up. Then get some anti-bacterial cream and treat it with that. But watch it closely. If the redness spreads, you will have to get to a doctor.
