I do not drink coffee because I get muscle spasms in my face every time I do, but recently I was assigned in graveyard shift for my job and I have to drink coffee just to keep me awake the whole night. The muscle spasms in my face bothers me a lot and it can make me lose my concentration. I just want to know what causes that and if there's anything that can prevent it.

Sounds like the caffiene is causing problems. If you have to use caffeine to stay awake on the night shift then you need to let your boss know this shift is not working out for you. Either you can tolerate night shift or you can't and you don't seem to be able to tolerate it so let your boss know.

This could be a possible Potassium deficiency. If I were you I would go to your doctor and have some blood work done. Is coffee the only thing that triggers it?

I hope you find out soon. Good Luck!
