I found a tick on the back of my earlobe 3 days ago, its head was actually in the hole for my earring. I went to the dr. yesterday because it was swollen and itchy and painful. She put me on antibiotic. I didn't sleep half the night. I went back to dr. this morning, she gave me a steroid shot to stop itching and burning and pain med, Ultram, plus topical medicine for itching. I put cold compress on every hour for 15 min. My head is hurting, my lymph node is swelled (dr. knows that). My jaw hurts and the side of my neck hurts. I have taken 3 of the antibiotics as prescribed since yesterday. I took the pain pill, slept maybe 30 min. and it is still hurting. Can't take a pain pill for another 7 hourrs. Can I take Ibuprophen with the pain med. Should I call the dr. back before she leaves today. She is not in tomorrow. This is serious.

I have a severe sore throat, fever, and rash. I've recently had a kidney transplant. I am on a lot of anti-rejection meds. I've recently switched to RAPAMUNE when I got this sinus infection; I was seen by 2 doctors (infectious disease doctor and a nephrologist, but all the lab tests they've done on me came back negative. They don't know what's causing the infection. It hurts so much even when I try to swallow liquids! I am now in the hospital because I cannot eat/drink. It's been more than 8 days. What should I do? HELP!!!

And lightheadedness too. I have it and it sucks because I've been told it's all muscle related and very hard to treat. Anyone else in the same boat?

My dad has had two recent acute 'events' of dementia. The first one lasting on a few hours, 2nd time lasting much longer - from 7 am until 5 or 6 that evening. He spent the day in the hospital and left w/out a diagnosis. During these 'spells' his short term memory is non-functioning. He will ask the same questions over and over, make the same 'jokes' or comments over and over and not realize he's already said it. During his health history he heard my mom tell the nurses that his mom had passed away a year ago, and it struck him as though it was the first time he'd heard. He 'forgot' that my sister was pregnant and due in 5 weeks, and he looked shocked when he saw her in the hospital that day, asking her when she was due. He has no problem with recognition. We're all confused. The bloodwork, echo, dopplar, and eeg are normal. The MRI was unremarkable and he's to see a neurologist this week. Any ideas?

My grandma has been in the hospital for almost 2 weeks now and will continue to be there for at least another 2 weeks for sure. She has a degenerative disease with her bones.. I'm not sure the name of it (too technical) haha.. also, she has a UTI (urinary tract infection). She is unable to walk right now and is very sore and in very much pain. She feels discouraged and depressed. She does not believe she'll ever get well again or come home. Although the doctors confirmed that she will return home, she has a very negative mind-set right now and is worried for herself as well as my grandpa. Understandable! I would like to bring her an uplifting prayer to boost her spirits. A prayer for the healing of the sick. We are Catholic.. Roman Catholic to be specific. Any prayers will do =) Thank you for your help! I appreciate it.

I'm wondering about the AC1 blood test, and how is it taken (meter computer plugged, prick of finger, blood draw?), as well as measured (like which number is in the normal range)?(: Thank you. I am also a type one diabetic.

He has had many partial mis-diagnoses like ADHD and OCD, but now that he is properly diagnosed he refuses to accept it and is also refusing to take any medications to help him with it. This is very stressful for me to deal with and I would really appreciate some feasible solutions.

I recently spent the weekend at my sister's house. She had a cook out and everyone was outside a lot. Just recently I have started feeling ill. My neck is stiff, my body has a few aches (ecspecially in my legs and shoulders), I'm tired (could be because I'm busy), I also have a mild head ache, I also get dizzy spells where I crash into things and not even knowing how (kind of like being drunk only I don't drink and never have). I don't know if it's because of stress or something more serious. Please help!

The person stops breathing, but then there is that final exhale. (With my Mom, it was several minutes later). Between those two points, is the heart still beating? Does death officially occur when the heart stops or when breathing stops?

I have seen 4 neurologists for my condition and 2 ophthalmologists- they say I have blephoraspasm but each said for a different reason - some because of meds I have been on and 1 cause of genetics- I have been on various anti-depressants and treatment for TB exposure. I can exactly pin point when it started and I am on totally different meds now but still have it along with other symptoms. I contacted Mayo Clinic but no one is willing to talk to me as I am not located near a Mayo Clinic. I was hoping some one out there may have similar experiences or now of an excellent specialist willing to do a phone conference at least initially. This is a horrible issue and effecting every aspect of my life - any one out there who can help me??? Please!

Well i have the disease. But i'm actually thinking what causes the form of it. A couple months before I started having symptons of this disease, i got stung by something on my hip. The area got all purple and swelled. I think this is what caused my disease. Because just a couple weeks ago i got stung on the foot and now my foot hurts like my hip does. What do you people think?

Hi, I've been taking citalopram for about 8 months, and for the first three months I had no, problems. But then about three or four months ago I started having bouts of severe nausea. I would have symptoms of nausea, diarrhea, feeling like throwing up chills and shakes, going on sometimes for hours. The symptoms go on for one to seven days, and then all of a sudden I feel fine for a couple of days. Then it will all come back again.

I've been to see my doctor, who had me do a stool sample and a blood test, and finally she told me that there is nothing more she can do for me. Within the last couple of days my symptoms have gotten much worse and aren't going away at all.

I took another look at citalopram side effects and noticed all of my symptoms were listed. My doctor had me switch today to sertraline to see if it made a difference, but so far I'm still working my way off citalopram. Does anyone have any idea if these are side effects or what else is going on?

What if someone has these problems:

-Sleep Problems (ie cant sleep at night, little sleep, too much sleep, trouble getting to sleep)
-Some depression
-Weight Gain
-Trouble losing weight
-Irritability
-Mood Swings
-Mostly regular periods, but an occasional odd one.
-Stress
-Feeling low, then feeling happy

Any idea if this may be some medical condition? Websites would be helpful, as well as actual doctors and or nurse input.

If there are germs in it, where do they come from? Your intestines? What are germs doing there and how do they survive your stomach acid?

I am taking care of a little boy that is 18 months old. Now I guess he fell this past weekend, but he has a huge bump on his forehead. He also has severe bruising on his abdomen and legs. Now his mother told me that he fell in the kitchen from a chair. I asked her if she took him to the doctor because of the wound on his forehead. She said that she did not because there are no hemophilia specialists in the area where we live. Now what I want to know is if every basic family physician specializes in hemophilia or are there actual hemophilia specialists? I am just try to track a pattern of abuse because she did not want to take him to a doctor.

would really appreciate it if someone else who has been through this can let me know what to expect. Today I took my 14 month old to the doctor for 4 shots. She typically holds her breath a bit when crying but in between the two shots she turned completely blue, her eyes rolled up into her head, and she completely stopped breathing. It lasted for about a minute and then she looked like she had a siezure and woke back up screaming. It was the scariest thing I have ever seen, I literally thought that she had a reaction to the vaccine and had died right in front of me. The doctor said that now that she has started doing it, it will probably get worse as she gets into her twos and I should expect that as soon as I say no or take something away that she could just collapse. My question is what can I expect and is it possible that there is more to it? My brother, mother, and aunt all had epilepsy growing up and I called the doc back and left a voicemail but until then any thoughts?
