My 2 year old has a vp shunt, and keeps getting severe headaches, especially on waking. she will not eat and pain killers(ie codiene, ibruprofen, paracetamol) dont seem to work. after a while of being upright she seems to improve. appetite returns tho not fully and headache goes or lessons. she had a ct scan the other day but appears normal. she also has a swollen lymph node right next to her shunt. Any advice would be gratefully recieved. thanks. P.s what other tests can be done, and how do i get the docs to listen, i am pretty sure it is her shunt. :(

I have had knee problems, osteoarthritis and surgery in Feb 2007. Iam possibly facing a partial knee replacement in the future. My problem is my feet are aching and have spasms and now my hips and other knee are hurting. Iam 49 years old and feel like iam falling apart. Could all these new problems be because of my bad knee? Anyone every experience this? Thanks

My grandfather is 90 years old, and very healthy for a person of his age. But his kidneys are performing poorly and losing their functionality everyday. The creatinine level is 6.8 and has been increasing lately.

He has to walk periodically in order to get some exercise, and the doctors say so too. But I think this is for general cases where the kidney function is not so poor.

I need to know if there are any special exercises or methods to keep the kidney healthy, or not make it worse at the least.

Dialysis is the nest step, but are there exercises or restrictions to exercises that should be considered (apart from just walking)?

i hold my medical certifications but i never really thought about this question.. Can someone relay me some information on how EXACTLY to perform this life saving procedure? i believe i would contact a surgeon from local hospital to assist in preforming this...
however, say no surgeon is available...paramedics and on a call... mutual aid is no where around.. you have the necessary equipment... and your ready to cut. Can someone guide me on STEP BY STEP...everything from using the scalpel to cutting though the epiglottis, tracheal glands and the tracheal tube its self...how much 02 to release? (10L-15L?) and everything else needed...

just something i always wanted to know how to do... thank you!

I've heard/read many articles on how coffee/caffeine is beneficial in the alleviation of mild to moderate asthma symptoms.

I'm wondering if decaf would have any benefits as well?

Being that decaf isn't 100% caffeine free, and that coffee contains other chemicals aside from caffeine that can also be thought of as having mild stimulative effects.

Also I have anxiety/panic disorder, and I have to try to avoid caffeine at all costs.

Thanks.

Locally in my area or nationally. I'm not looking for random tests or procedures to participate in but specific ones I might benefit from, like Acne treatment.

I had my gallbladder ultrasounded a few years back and was told then that there were no stones and it seemed to be working ok. Not 100% but enough that it shouldn't be removed. When I get hungry, I get a sharp stabbing pain or a burning sensation under my right rib. I sometimes have horrible chest pains that radiate into my back and throat area at the same time. Usually when I eat the pain goes away and then after about 45 minutes to 1 hour it will return, not so sharp at first. But then it will kinda come and go until I get really hungry. Does that sound like it's my gallbladder? The only other worry I have is that I take to many OTC pain medications. I have had 4 knee surgeries and suffer from headaches, so it seems like I am constantly taking Tylenol for something. I worry that it's maybe my liver instead of my gallbladder. Any suggestions?

My wife has had the gastric bypass surgery. I know that when a bypass patient takes pills usually they go right through your system and your body doesen't have enough time to absorb the medication. Now if she were to take the Plan B pills will this be a problem or should her body be able to absorb enough to take "care of it."

My 13 yr old started having mid abdominal pain yesterday. It has moved more to the right and lower. In the middle of the night she broke out in a sweat and felt like she was going to vomit. She still feels nauseated, but hasnt thrown up. She said when she moves around it hurts her more but if she is lying down it doesnt hurt as bad. Could this be appendicitis?

Depression is bad enough so how do you get rid of panic attacts. Medicine will not even make them so away! Got rid of mouthy boyfriend-i had to act like i was walking on egg shells-should this help me and if i stay to myself as much as possible is there any chance they will go away? It really scares me and nothing hardly ever does!

I was just wondering if having swollen lymph nodes in the groin area is common for teenagers? It felt like I had swollen lymph nodes about a month or so ago in my right groin area and the bumps went away and so did the pain in less than a week. Now today I feel the same pain/bumps in my left groin. So is this common in teenagers?

I'm doing a research project for school and was looking for a lung disease that maybe fatal.
it can be anything as long as it is non-transmittable and not cancer.

if you have any suggestions on any other disease that does not have to do with the lungs feel free to let me know :)
